Pedro Pusscal's Story
Pedro Pusscal was left behind when his family moved away. Luckily a kind neighbor began feeding him & did so for several years before asking for help getting him neutered. At that time he was assessed to be friendly enough for adoption. Pedro also tested positive for FIV. He wasn't feeling great when he arrived at the shelter & we discovered dental disease (which is often associated with FIV). We had a dentistry done removing almost all of his teeth & now he's feeling so much better that he's grooming himself again! We haven't been able to test him out in an open room yet but he's not shown any signs of aggression towards other cats while they're walking around the room outside of his cage. Pedro Pusscal is microchipped, vaccinated, neutered & ready for his furever home!

This kitty has tested positive for FIV, similar to HIV in people. It can not be transmitted through casual contact, sharing food, water, or a litter box. It can not be transmitted to people or other pet species. It is typically only transmitted to other cats via a deep bite wound. FIV positive cats can live long and healthy lives! They do tend to have more dental issues and absolutely must be kept safely indoors at all times.
