Pecola's Story

Hi, my name is Pecola, it means fragile beauty.

I'm a sweet almost 4-year-old girl who has had a bit of a rough start, but my heart is still overflowing with love. I was first picked up with 18 community cats in downtown Brewster to get spayed but since I was a people lover they brought me to ORH. I love attention but I’m a bit shy so it takes me some time to get used to someone new. I do have some quirks about me and have a hard time breathing sometimes since I have pectus excavatum, which means I have an indent in my chest, but it doesn’t make me any less playful. My caretakers say I sound a little bit like a lawn mower.

More than anything, I love to cuddle and get attention. I'll purr up a storm the moment you start giving me head scratches and will melt right into your arms. All I want is a quiet, patient home where I can be free to relax and enjoy the solitude with my people. I currently live in a small community with other cats at ORH but am willing to give it a try if you have an older cat in the home just please no kittens or little kids since they are a little too rambunctious for my taste.

I am up to date on all of my vaccines, and weighed 10 lbs at my last check up. If you are interested, please give ORH a call and swing by to say hi to see if im the right fit for your family.

Okanogan Regional Humane's Adoption Policy
TAME 2 U ADOPTER QUALIFICATIONS Our adoption fee is $75.00. Cats must go in pairs except for the cats whose behavior has led us to believe they would prefer being the only cat. If there are already cats in the home, they must be receptive to new cats. It may take 6 hours, 6 days, 6 weeks, 6 months or longer for Tame 2 U cats to adjust to a new environment and show off how wonderful they are. Adopters must understand the relocation process and be willing to commit to a long adjustment period. Cats must be indoors only unless they have a secure enclosure where they have access to both an indoor and outdoor area. Adopters will be required to spend time bonding with their cats in the "Tame 2 U Cat Room" at Okanogan Regional Humane prior to taking them home. Socializing tools and activities will be explained and printed information provided during the bonding period. Kids will be kids and may unintentionally leave doors open, move quickly, or make unexpected loud noises, so in most cases, homes without children are best for fearful kitties. Adopters must be able to afford medical care for the cats they adopted. Stuff happens, so adopters must agree that the cats they adopted will be returned to the "Tame 2 U Program" if they can no longer care for them.
