Pecan *Special Needs*'s Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.*****IMPORTANT*****Pecan is a "special needs" cat and will require an experienced adopter. A background in animal care would be exceptionally useful. We would also consider a long-term foster with veterinarian experience (vet tech, etc) to help Pecan thrive in her recovery.

Pecan is an FIP survivor. She has been successfully treated. This condition now only requires wellness monitoring and vet visits. It does not require any medication or special foods. Pecan now needs a home that includes lots of love and patience as she continues to recover. Pecan does have (lingering) "potty" issues. Pecan successfully uses the litter box for urination but not consistently for bowel movements. We are trying to determine if it is a sensation issue, nerve damage, or some other result of FIP or another injury before she arrived at our rescue. Recovery from FIP can include a slow nerve recovery process. We will continue to hold out hope Pecan will completely recover in this area as well. (We will have a detailed conversation with a potential adopter/foster family)

Pecan is an amazing kitten. This girl is ALL LOVE. She has the loudest purrrrr, and from the moment you pick her up it begins and does not quit. She is happy to lay on your shoulder and walk around with you, sit with you, or basically anything as long as she is with you. She is a super friendly baby and oh so adorable. Because Pecan had FIP as a very young kitten, she seems to truly believe she is an actual baby. We treated her as one and she has come to expect it. Pecan is one of a kind and all of our volunteers are significantly invested in her. Many of our volunteers spend their time doing research on her condition, treatments, accommodations, or tools to make her life easier. We believe in her, we love her, and we want her to have the very best life because she (and we) worked hard to get her back to health. This little girl is an amazing tribute to our rescues mission. Again, she is just ALL LOVE!

**We will continue to work with our veterinarian to determine appropriate timing for vaccines, spay date, and wellness requirements/calendar. These items will be covered by our shelter and we will work with adopter/foster on scheduling.
