Pebbles's Story
Meet Pebbles!

Pebbles may need a little time to decide that you're one of her people—but once she does, this girl is an absolute lovebug.

Her foster says Pebbles craves human interaction and affection. When she sits down, Pebbles will actually jump onto her chest, wrap both little paws around her neck, and soak up the love. She may be a little cautious with someone new, but once she feels safe, she forms a very close bond with her people.

Pebbles is also extra special in another way. Since she was first trapped, she has had an unusual gait in her back legs. Her hips rock or sway when she walks, she can be unsteady, and sometimes she simply flops over. She has been evaluated by a veterinarian, who believes the most likely cause is congenital muscular atrophy.

The important part? Pebbles doesn't seem to know she's different.

She's active, curious, and surprisingly capable. She climbs her cat tree on her own and gets herself back down without a problem. Her future family will simply need to keep her mobility in mind and be willing to make accommodations if her needs change as she grows.

Pebbles has also shown us that she really values companionship. After her former foster buddy was adopted, she would cry when she was left alone. Since moving in with another kitten, that crying has decreased considerably. She's still working out the finer points of sharing her space—there may be a hiss or grumble when her new roommate gets a little too enthusiastic—but they're making progress.

Could Pebbles be an only cat? Possibly, in the right home. She craves human company, so a home where someone is around much of the time could potentially work. Otherwise, we think she'd be happiest with a friendly feline companion so she isn't spending long stretches alone.

What Pebbles needs most is a family willing to give her a little patience at the beginning. She may not walk into a brand-new home and immediately declare herself ruler of the castle.

But give her a chance to know you, and before long, you may have a wobbly little girl launching herself into your arms and wrapping both paws around your neck.

All of the Sweet Paws animals are loved a great deal by their rescuers, fosters, and the volunteers who've cared for them along the way. Your kitten will be up to date on appropriate vaccinations by adoption day, but please keep in mind that kittens require multiple routine vet visits throughout the course of their first year. Sweet Paws is staffed by volunteers, and processing applications is time intensive; therefore, we ask that you only submit an application if you are fully committed to adopting.
