Peanut's Story

Meet Peanut, the sweet and gentle soul who’s come a long way from his feral days! This once wild boy has blossomed into a calm, loving, and cuddly companion. His soft, adorable fur and sweet nature will melt your heart in no time. Peanut loves giving snuggles and is always there when you need a comforting cuddle. He can be playful when the moment strikes, but his true joy comes from snuggling up with his siblings, Teddy and Biscuit. If you're looking for a sweet, affectionate cat who’s ready to show you endless love, Peanut is the one for you!

We believe Peanut will do well in most households, he does well with people of all ages, other cats, and could acclimate to a cat-friendly dog.

You can find our adoption questionnaire at agcshelter.org/adopt-1. Our cat adoption fees are $110 and include their spay/neuter, age-appropriate vaccinations, preventatives, and microchip.

Feel free to stop by to meet our adoptable pets at 2205 E. Washington St. in Mt. Pleasant, IA. We are open to the public Tuesday-Saturday from 1PM-4PM.

PAWS & More Animal Shelter's Adoption Policy
Once you find the animal (or animals) for you, save the downloaded application provided on our website, https://www.pawsandmorewashington.org/adopt, to your device, then complete the form and email it as an attachment to: washingtonpawsandmore1978@gmail.com All animals adopted from our facility are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. In rare cases that they are not, due to health reasons, arrangements will be made with the adopter to have the surgery done at a later date. For local adopters, we will ask them to bring the pet back to the shelter on designated spay/neuter days so we can transport it to our vet. This is so we can keep costs down for the family plus ensure the surgery is completed. For long distance adopters, we will talk to the adopter’s vet and arrange a time for the spay/neuter surgery as well as follow-up that it’s complete. We firmly believe that controlling the animal population is the only way to reduce the number of animals in rescue facilities as well as shelters that destroy animals for no reason other than overpopulation.
