Patches's Story

Hello! I am Patches, the sweetest 1.5-year-old, spayed female, medium-size, domestic short-haired, Dilute Calico cat you'll ever meet! I may start off on the shy side, but with a bit of patience and purrfect pets, I will show myself to be the loveliest lady. I'm looking for a furever home where I can enjoy life to the fullest as the only kitty of the household, as I don't share well with others. I can get overwhelmed with too many pets, so an experienced adopter who can read my mood is ideal for me. I also am FIV+, which means I need to be indoors only as a solo kitty. If I sound interesting, come on down and ask for me by name! Patches ID#A965424

This cat tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). He/she otherwise appears to be in excellent health. Cats with FIV can usually live for many years with no medical problems. Usually at some point however the virus will start to affect them. The most common thing that happens is that they get sicker than a normal cat would when they get a cold or other condition. FIV is transmitted almost exclusively via bite wounds. For this reason we recommend that this cat should be an only cat and not be allowed outdoors. New owner should be prepared to have expenses relating to veterinary care in the future. Please ask to speak with a PHS Veterinarian to learn more about this cat and FIV.
