Parmesan's Story
***FOSTER & FOREVER HOME DESPERATELY NEEDED***

Meet Parmesan, a cat who is still waiting to be chosen. The friendlier cats are always greeted, pressing their paws against the cage doors and meowing for attention. Parmesan does the opposite. The moment footsteps approach, he shrinks into the back of his kennel, making himself as small and invisible as possible. People glance inside and move on." Too shy," they say. "Probably feral."
"Not a lap cat." What they don't know is that Parmesan desperately wants to trust people. He just doesn't know how.

I don't know much about his past other than he has spent years surviving outdoors, where every unfamiliar sound could mean danger and every approaching human was a risk. Life has taught him to hide first and hope for safety later. When he was rescued and finally brought inside, his life was saved, but we cant erase the fear that he's been carrying for so long. Every day, shelter volunteers try to help. They sit quietly near his kennel. They speak softly. They offer treats. Sometimes, when he thinks no one is looking, Parmesan inches closer. He sniffs a hand and leans forward for just a second. Then panic sets in and he retreats. He is called "under-socialized." It sounds like a simple label but behind those words is a cat trapped between two worlds.

He is not meant for outdoor life anymore. The streets are dangerous, and he has struggled to survive them. Yet shelter life frightens him also. The noise, the confinement, the constant flow of strangers, it is all overwhelming.
What Parmesan needs isn't a cage. He needs a chance. A foster home. A quiet room where he can learn that footsteps don't always lead to fear. A patient person who understands that trust grows slowly. Someone who would celebrate tiny victories, a first purr, a first touch, the first time he chooses to sit nearby instead of hiding. Because hidden beneath all this fear is a loving cat waiting to emerge.

Somewhere out there is a person who won't expect Parmesan to be perfect on day one. Someone who will understand that love isn't always loud and immediate. Sometimes love is sitting quietly on the floor while a frightened cat gathers the courage to take one step forward. Parmesan needs that person. A foster first and then a forever family who will see past the fear and recognize the gentle soul beneath it. Please help give this sweet boy a chance at a better life.

If you're interested in fostering or adopting Parmesan, please complete our application here: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/CCRN/Cat
