Parker's Story

Hi, my name is Parker and my foster-family teases me by calling me “the long-arm of the paw”. I guess it's because when I lounge, I stretch right out with my paws way in front of me. They tell me it's pretty cute.

My story is that I was brought to CARMA by the NBSPCA when they trapped 13 of us in late spring 2024 and I got my current foster family August 2025. I was with another foster-family until then, but needed a change because I just wasn't being very nice to them. I also wasn't very nice to my new foster-mom the first couple of weeks either, but she out-stubborned me with the pets and treats and attention, and I finally remembered that attention feels really good.

To be honest, the most important part of getting a home will be the other cats. I am so social with other cats because I never was without them where I lived before CARMA. I need to have a furiend or two in my new home. With the other cats around, I feel really safe and confident and am really happy to hang out with them and the humans at the same time.

I love treats and wet food. Squeeze-up treats are yummy, and I do come running when the treat containers get opened. You'll have no problem petting me when there are treats.

I am still young but not a kitten. It's guesstimated that I might be 2 years old now. I like playing with feather sticks, squeaky mouse toys, plastic springs, paper bags, and boxes, especially if there is another cat in them. I also like watching the outside world because the humans feed the birds, and that's exciting. I love running from one end of the house to the other playing chase with the other cats. I even get along well with the small family dog, so if you've got one that is well behaved, no problem.

I asked my foster parents what to expect of me and here's what they think:
"Parker adores other cats, so if you have a cat that needs a cat, he's your guy. He's really quite friendly, and is happy to pop-up on the bed and hang out and get some pets. He regularly sits nearby when we are reading or watching the TV so that he can get more pets. He will do whatever your cat does, so if your cat is social with you, Parker will be too. We can pick him up from the floor and place him on the bed, or a chair, but we can't pick him up to hold him. He's not quite a lap-cat yet, that will take more time and patience, in the meantime you'll have to settle for rump rubs and tummy tickles.”

They make me sound kind of difficult but they love me, and want me to have the purrfect furever home. If you've got a cat's cat, want a cute tabby, have some patience, and treats, we should meet.

Parker has an approximate date of birth of July 2023. Please note that many of our cats are not born in our care, so the date of birth is our best guess based on assessment.

Please consider adopting Parker into your loving home. If you can’t adopt him, please share his story and help him find his forever home.

If you are interested in adopting Parker, please contact us at frederictoncarma@gmail.com.

Fill out an adoption application here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfZFfrReR_SFRgIQYba6kxfNkxsiQ0bktXtIIrJb_ZRPKQbcg/viewform?fbclid=IwAR1U6c4NbehUd-O2WaqGAxpZvrcuovBBlDXKgSEGbvyZGPkORDyB21KaHGs

As of October 2024, the adoption donations will be:

- Adult cat (over 12 months): $125
- Kitten (12 months and under): $200

Would you like to make a one-time donation to help cats like Parker? So, you've found your potential new best friend... send us an email and we'll get the ball rolling for you! All cats and kittens available for adoption by CARMA Fredericton are treated to ensure they do not have fleas, ear mites, roundworm, tapeworms, or heartworm. They are spayed/neutered and vaccinated at Ca-R-Ma's expense. We do not sell cats or kittens; instead we request that adopters donate to our spay/neuter fund. This amount can change from time to time - please check with our volunteers for the current minimum donation. CARMA does not have a shelter but instead relies on a network of loving foster homes to help us socialize and care for adoptable cats.
