Panda's Story

Pepper and Panda are the kind of cats who won't run up to greet you right away. They're shy, quiet girls who need time to learn that the world- and people - can be safe.

Pepper and Panda were found on the streets of New York City as kittens, where all they knew were loud noises and scary faces. Upon arriving to our rescue we've found that Panda is FIV+, which is a disease transmissible to other cats through deep wounds often caused by scuffles. Pepper is not FIV+, and they both have been previously introduced to other FIV+ cats, where they adjusted well to having roommates. Since coming to Animal Haven, they've been making slow but steady progress with humans, too. Pepper relies heavily on Panda to feel safe, and though Panda tries her best to be brave, she often prefers to sit back or cuddle up in a safe place.

With a lot of time, patience, and consistency, Panda allows gentle pets and head scratches, and gazes at you lovingly with a soft purr while you do so. But this love didn't develop overnight; Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither is their loyalty. No one is more loyal than Pepper, who is beside Panda through it all. These two are deeply bonded, and they are braver together than when apart. This bonded pair will be adopted together-but what's one more cat?!

They will benefit from a patient adopter who understands that trust takes time. But for the person who's willing to give them that time, the reward will be something really special: two loyal little shadows who chose to trust you. And of course... someone who won't skimp out on the treats!
