Otis (fiv+)'s Story

A note from the kind person that rescued abandoned kitty Otis and brought him to Whiskers, in hopes that it will help him get adopted!
"Otis was an abandoned cat. There were sightings of him on and off for 4 years. Otis roamed country neighborhoods. He walked around like he owned the place. The country is an unusual place to have an outdoor cat. There are things that like to Eat Cats. From a distance Otis seemed healthy. He never got too close. Then Otis went missing in 2025. Meaning there were no sightings. For a whole year.
Nothing. If he found a home, it was temporary. This spring Otis returned. No longer king of the hood. Otis was starving. Full of wounds. Thick big scabs. Particularly around his throat! Covered in dozens of tics. Ravenous. Begging for food. There was no longer any question Otis needed, and wanted, help and a home.

Otis is a love bug. He loves to cuddle. He wants to be your friend and he is oh so happy he is safe now! Otis talks and he knows exactly what he is saying. He eats pretty much anything, but he does not like to eat alone. He prefer you sit next to him. He likes catnip. Correction: loves catnip. He likes a bed with long fur vs fleece, and preferably up off the floor. He prefers clumping litter, if you don't mind. He wants a quiet home. with people that will play with him and treat him like a human. He will fall asleep in your arms someday. Adults. Young children are not his cup of tea. He wants all the attention for himself."

Otis is fiv+. FIV is not contagious to people ir dogs. Otis is not sick. FIV is an immunity issue, similar to lupus, etc in humans. While there's no cure, FIV-positive cats can live long, healthy lives with proper indoor care, a balanced diet, and regular vet check-ups. Otis should be an only cat or possibly with another FIV+ kitty friend.
