Oscar's Story

Oscar is a very sweet boy who is looking for a loving and understanding forever home! He came to us with some medical needs that his future family should be aware of, but despite his challenges, Oscar has plenty of love to give.

Oscar was diagnosed with uveitis, which is inflammation of the eyes. He has received antibiotic and steroid eye medications, though there has been minimal improvement so far. He does appear to have some vision, but his eyesight may be limited. There are several possible causes of uveitis, including infections, glaucoma, trauma, and other underlying conditions. Our veterinary team attempted to test for glaucoma, which appears to be less likely. His adopter may want to consider a referral to a veterinary ophthalmologist for further evaluation and guidance.

Oscar has also been sensitive when his hind-end is touched and may be uncomfortable when being picked up or moved. He is suspected to have arthritis, and he has shown improvement with gabapentin, a medication used to help manage pain. While he can still be sensitive about being picked up or having his hind-end handled, he happily allows petting along his back.

Oscar will need a patient family who is willing to understand his limitations, continue caring for his medical needs, and let him take things at his own pace. In return, you'll have a very sweet boy who deserves the chance to spend his days feeling safe, comfortable, and loved.

If you think you could be the loving and understanding home Oscar is looking for, come meet this special boy!

BrightSide Animal Center's Adoption Policy
Our adoption process: Bring your entire family to meet your prospective new family member. We want to see how everyone interacts with the animal. All adoptions are first come first serve based on approval. We do not do any holds for any reason. Bring your current dog(s) with you so we can conduct a required “meet and greet” to get a feeling for how the new addition will integrate into your home. If you do not own your home, landlord approval is required. We will discuss the animals individual needs with you to determine if your home sounds like the right fit. If we feel that you are a good match for the animal, you will fill out an application on site. After approval of the application you will pay the adoption fee, and then take your new animal home that day! Please keep in mind that the staff at BrightSide Animal Center will make the final decision on the adoption. If we feel that the animal is not right for you, we will decline the adoption. This is ultimately for your protection and the animals well-being.
