Orla's Story

Most cats feel like there is a princess or prince, maybe a queen or king, inside all of us, don’t we? Speaking for myself, my name, Orla, means “golden princess.” I’m pretty enough to be a princess, aren’t I? I was nowhere near a palace when I was found on my own In SE Rochester back in August. I have stayed in a couple different foster homes, and now I am at the shelter hoping to find a forever home. I may be a princess-in-training. Learning to trust and feeling comfortable around people is a work in progress for me. I am wary about being touched, and if I feel overly nervous, I may attempt to swat. For this reason, I may do best in a home with adults only or with older children who can read my signals. I need an adopter who will be patient with me and willing to accept me as I am. Will you be able to give me as much time as I need to adjust to a new place and to a new person or people? If you can give me time, space, patience, and love, I can become the golden girl I am meant to become. “Becoming” takes time, and I hope you’ll be a part of my journey.

Adoption fee $100 + microchip fee $30 + tax

IMPORTANT UPDATE Although our shelter is open to potential adopters during the viewing hours listed on this page, Paws and Claws prefers to schedule viewings and adoptions by appointment. To make an appointment to meet and adopt one of the companion animals on our Website, we ask that you fill out an online application. Potential adopters can either click on the ADOPTION APPLICATION link on the right side of this page, or visit our Website at pawsandclaws.org and go to the "Willing to Adopt a Pet" section, then select the orange "Adoption Form" box. You may list up to four animals that you would like to meet. We review the emails every day. We will process all applications in the order that they are received and then once your application has been approved, we will contact you and set up an appointment for you to meet the animal(s) and if possible, do the adoption on the same day you come in.
