Opie

Opie was discovered with double entropon (a painful condition where the eye lashes point down and into the eyeball). He lived in a large gritty colony for about six years. <br/><br/>He was brought to a vet for eye surgery and a dental since he also had a severely infected mouth. His short tail was healed, but the vet confirmed that it had experienced previous trauma. Opie had a lot of issues but his personality revealed a gentle and loving cat that deserved to be given a chance to live with sight and without pain.<br/><br/>Opie, was a stoic and gentle patient despite severe pain before and after surgery. None of his broken, rotten teeth could be saved and he had a full mouth extraction (cats can eat normally without teeth, including dry food and treats.) He tested positive for FIV, but without teeth, he cannot transfer the virus which transmits through deep bite wounds. Even with teeth, this positive and gentle guy could co-exist with cats that were not FIV+. He was negative for FelV.<br/><br/>Opie is a lover, not a fighter. He was obviously loved at one time before he was put outside because he adores people, especially woman; he is cautious around men. Opie wants to sit on you, next to you, across your feet, your chest or any body part that he can climb on, over or next to. He kneads constantly and purrs with abandon. <br/><br/>Balls and toys are a new discovery for Opie, He loves balls in tracks, whether in a single circle or stacked high. They will entertain him for hours. With improved vision, Opie loves to explore and then sit on a chair in the sunshine for a safe nap indoors. No more worrying about dangers lurking nearby. He is loving life indoors with soft beds, air-conditioning, toys, no flies or mosquitoes, delicious food and clean water. <br/><br/>Opie is a very smart, very special and very loving cat who has mastered surviving in the streets with many physical obstacles. It is now his time to chill and enjoy life with a deserving human who can appreciate all of Opie’s wonderful attributes.
