Ophelia (bonded with Bolt)'s Story

***Ophelia is an extremely affectionate and cuddly cat who loves attention and pets from her humans; she is even good with strangers! If you have love to give, she is ready to receive it. Ophelia and her brother of a different mother Bolt are a bonded pair, and must be adopted together.

Ophelia is a super affectionate little house panther who has firm opinions of how her little kingdom should be. She loves to cuddle with her humans, and sleeping in the bed with you is a must. She is very vocal, and will let you know when she wants attention, food and to play. She mainly plays by herself, batting toys around or wrestling with her brother Bolt. She prefers meal time food rather than treats.

Ophelia is a very talkative and cuddly cat, she will need someone who can give her lots of attention. It doesn’t take her too long to start asking for belly rubs! She sometimes gets jealous when she feels that Bolt is getting too much of what she wants (she is the dominant one). Fortunately, letting Ophelia get the lion’s share of attention without neglecting Bolt is easy, as he is a sweet cat used to his sister’s bossy ways.

Ophelia does have a history of randomly and intermittently pooping outside of the litter box, and since she is perfectly healthy physically, it is a behaviour that we have not been able to pinpoint the cause. This happens at random times, and she can go a year without issues. We have yet to figure out the trigger or any solution. She will need a cat whisperer who is patient and understanding. This quirk does not take away from how sweet and precious she is. Ophelia is an all-star kitty with this one imperfection.

Initially, it was thought that Bolt was the trigger for Ophelia’s behaviour, but a trial separation resulting in Ophelia going on a hunger strike made it clear that she cannot be without Bolt’s company. The two of them tussle and love with equal intensity, and must remain so for life.

If you would like to make Ophelia and Bolt a part of your family, please complete our online application found at: https://www.avacats.org/adoption-application-form.

Our adoption fees cover vetting and include spay/neuter, vaccines (initial FVRCP and rabies), flea treatment, two dewormings and microchipping.

Adoption fees are $250 for each adult cat 1 year or older. Please note that fees may apply for additional required vaccinations (at $75 per booster) due prior to adoption. Total adoption fees will be confirmed by the AVA Adoption Coordinator.
