OPHELIA's Story

Ophelia... our quiet little flower.

Ophelia is the kind of girl who doesn’t need to be the center of attention. While her sisters confidently march ahead, Ophelia is often a few steps behind, watching the world carefully and taking her time. She is gentle, sweet, and a little bit shy—and there is something incredibly endearing about the way she quietly takes everything in.

She may not be the bravest of her sisters just yet, but we believe her courage is there, waiting to bloom. She simply needs someone to believe in her.

Ophelia would thrive in a peaceful, quieter home where she can feel safe and take things at her own pace. Having another cat is especially important for her. She does beautifully with feline friends and would love a confident, kindhearted sibling who can show her that the world isn’t so scary and teach her that it’s okay to be brave.

She has a wonderful respect for boundaries and gets along beautifully with the cats she has met. She isn’t pushy or demanding—she is simply looking for a little companionship, a little reassurance, and a safe place to call her own.

We know that sometimes the quietest hearts have the most love to give. Ophelia may not be the kitten who runs to greet you first, but she may be the one who eventually chooses you—and when she does, it will feel like the most precious little gift.

She doesn’t need a busy home or a family looking for the boldest personality. She needs patience, gentleness, a peaceful home, and a confident kitty friend to help her find her courage.

Give Ophelia a little time, and perhaps you’ll get to witness something beautiful: a shy little flower slowly opening into the loving, confident girl she was always meant to be.

Rhode Island Feline Rescue's Adoption Policy
We have a very detailed Adoption Application as well as an adoption coordinator system. Once an application is received, it will be reviewed by the adoption coordinator, vet records confirmed, residence status, renting/landlord information, pet permission, and employment verified then the coordinator conducts an interview with the potential adopter. If deemed a good match, the adoption coordinator forwards the information about the potential adopter to the foster. If the foster also agrees then they will have a meet and greet. At the completion of the meeting, if both parties agree the cat/kittens is a good fit an adoption contract is signed, and the adoption fee paid. We do not adopt on a first come, first served basis. All the cats and kittens in our care receive the following: checkup, spay/neuter, rabies & distemper vaccines, de-worming medicine, flea preventative, microchip, and Felv/FIV test.
