Opal's Story

Opal likes to fold herself into a round, fluffy pile with every paw tucked out of sight, and from there she watches the room with calm blue eyes until someone comes over to give her some attention.

Opal is a Himalayan with a long cream coat, soft gray tabby stripes across her face, and darker points on her ears. All that fur makes her look about twice her actual size. She came to us as a stray.

She is a very sweet cat. She is gentle and happy to settle in with her people, which makes her a good fit for a quieter home or someone who wants a calm companion to share the couch with. She is also friendly with other cats, so she can join a home that already has one.

A few honest things before you apply. Himalayans need regular grooming, and Opal is no exception. Her coat should be brushed every day or two to keep it from matting, and many Himalayan owners also budget for professional grooming every few months. We are looking for a home that is ready to make grooming part of the routine. We cannot tell you how she would do with dogs or young children.

We prefer to schedule appointments for meet and greets to make sure someone is available to spend time with you. The shelter is open Monday through Friday, 12pm to 4pm, and appointments outside of those hours may be available based on volunteer availability.
