Onyx's Story

Onyx AVAILABLE Updated 11-9-2025 Onyx is in the precious gem litter and has a little white tuft on her neck. Onyx is now 2-1/2 years old. She is sweet, but timid. She is low energy, quiet, and keeps to herself most of the time, enjoying naps. She likes to sit on the back of the couch and watch TV with you. She does like to be near and is your shadow, but isn't a cuddler. She gets along with other cats, and has been around cat friendly dogs. Onyx loves hiding spots, boxes, soft blankets, and enjoying life from her quiet corners. She is microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and spayed. We are looking for a calm home for Onyx and a person who will love her and have patience as she will be quiet and hiding when you first put her in a new place. If you have a great home for Onyx, please let us know! She is currently being fostered and as much as we love fosters, they are not meant to be forever homes and we are hoping to find Onyx a home soon. C.A.R.A (Citizens for Animal Rescue and Adoption)'s Adoption Policy

Please email citizensanimalrescue@gmail.com for an application or use our online link. Once an application is approved you will be contacted to set up an appointment to visit the animals. If you let us know what you have in mind (age, gender, personality), we'll have several ready to meet. We are open to the public Monday-Friday 1-4PM and Saturday/other times by appointment. Please call 217-655-4353 or 217-799-8858 for appointments and questions. After you've met and decided on the pet for you, you will fill out the final paperwork and you will be able to take your pet home. All adopters must be able to meet and pick up their pet as we do not offer transportation. All pets are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations.

C.A.R.A. is a 501(c)3 non-for-profit, No Kill animal shelter and rescue for homeless, injured/neglected or surrendered animals. Through community donations we are able to provide high quality care and rehabilitation for animals in our care.
