Omar Sharif's Story
Wearing his dark suit and bright white ascot it's easy to see how dashing Omar Sharif was so successful. But don't let his good looks distract you too much, in addition to being as stunningly handsome as he is, he's also a bit of a goofball! Omar is a delight of a cat, from cavorting with his siblings, pursuing a toy to jumping for joy, it's always uproarious fun. Omar would do well with another young, playful cat, perhaps a sibling, and is good with respectful children. Charismatic Omar's "philosophy is that when I go out of my room, I'm prepared to love everybody I meet..." and he'll sweetly reach up for you looking for love! Let's help Omar find his forever family so his dreams can come true: "I want to live every moment totally and intensely."

Omar nursed on his FIV mother the longest, which may be why he is still testing positive when his siblings now all test negative. She most likely was infected when impregnanted, so unlikely she would have passed the virus to him and may still have some of his mother's antibodies, so we'd recommend retesting.

Becoming FIV+ is always a possibility for kitties, particularly when they hadn't been spayed or neutered), growing up on the street (it is contracted via a deep bite or through sex). The good news is that a FIV positive kitty can live a full life inside and is not likely to pass it on, if fixed and he/she is not aggressive. With a slow introduction to another friendly cat or in a home with other FIV+ they usually do so well. They are the purrfect kitty for the right home and a loving cat owner.

FIV does not transmit across species. So an FIV+ kitty can easily be adopted into a home with dogs, as well (with a slow introduction of course), or as a single animal in a home.

You can see more pictures and videos of our fosters on our facebook page: Sophia L'Orange Kitten Rescue

All of our adoptable animals are cared for and assessed in foster homes (we do not have a shelter), up to date on age appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed or neutered and tested for FeLV/FIV, before they are adopted. They have had de-worming medication as a standard of care and Flea/Tick/Ear Mite preventive treatment. Medical records will be released with the adopted pet.
