Ojitos's Story

Hi! I'm Ojitos. I am a petite relaxed, chill young lady (7 pounds). I come from Paseo del Morro in Puerto Rico, where the National Park Service is trying to remove cats like me from the only place we've ever known as home. I'm one of the most fortunate ones who are super sociable and have been given a chance to find a home.

I'm a little shy at first until I get used to my new surroundings, but as soon as you start petting my head, I am all yours. I come from a large cat colony, so I get along with other cats.

Due to the stressful and harsh environment I lived in, I developed some urinary issues with urinary crystals. I've recently gone through treatment and special food that have helped me heal. Currently, the only requirements I need are a special diet of urinary food (Royal Canin Urinary Calm). There is a chance that in September 2025, I can discontinue this food, as long as I live a good stress-free life in a loving home and my urinary issues don't return. If they do, don't worry, I would just need to go back on this special food.

If you want to adopt me, please fill out the pre-adoption form, which can be found at: https://www.saveagato.com/available-cats.

Although I'm located in Puerto Rico, I can fly to mainland U.S. Save A Gato can find a flight angel to bring me to you once you're approved for adoption. Save A Gato does not charge for arranging the trip, but the adopter is responsible for the travel pet fee charged by airlines, which usually ranges from $95 to $150, depending on the airline. The adopter is also responsible for the travel bag, which costs $35, and the adopter gets to keep it when picking me up at the airport.

If you want to know more about Save A Gato before applying, please check out their website: https://www.saveagato.com/about

Save A Gato's Adoption Policy
Any potential adopter should fill out an application form (for a specific cat or for general pre-approval). After we review the application, a phone interview will be arranged for the qualified applicants for final approval. After the approval the applicant may choose to visit our facilities or local petsmart/petco stores where our cats are located for adoption and meet the dream cat (if the adopter doesn't already have a particular cat in mind). Finally the adopter will sign the adoption contract, pay the adoption fee, pay refundable spay/neuter deposit (if applicable) and pick up the cat. If the adopter is located in a different location in the US than Puerto Rico, arrangement of delivering the cat will also be discussed. We can usually find flight angels to bring the cat to mainland US. We don't charge for arranging the trip, the cost of pet ticket is about $95-$125 depending the airline.
