Octavia's Story

Octavia is a gorgeous kitten with a fierce dignity and secret soft side. She recognizes that atop a pillow is the resting place most befitting her station. She loves to play and has incredibly fast and agile paws; stick toys, crinkle balls, and a wrestle with another kitten are all favorites, but she’s not picky. And once she trusts you to pick her up, she melts into a pile of plush, purring pudding who just wants to be loved.

Octavia is a beauty, and she knows it. She has a long, lean build, delicate paws, and an almost mink-like coat in a striking black tabby pattern. She has the look of a Bombay cat: wide ears, short nose, and huge, almost oversized bronze-brown eyes. She has classic cat dignity for days, and her pose is always just so—paws perfectly aligned, tail elegant and the like. She sometimes—okay, often—has an expression that one might misread as grumpy. But that’s just her naturally aristocratic face; she has presence.

Octavia is also one smart cookie. She is never the kitten caught causing mischief, although she probably instigated it and left her siblings holding the bag. If you’re taking a group of kittens to the vee-ee-tee, you’d best gather her up first—once she sees your plan in action, it’s all over. She’s a bit wary, but it’s served her well—she’s the only one in her group who doesn’t have a broken tail. And although she hasn’t been off the street for long, she’s already learning that she can relax more now that she’s safe indoors.

A little bit of grumpy face and earned skittishness can’t hide Octavia’s secret sweet side, though. Once she trusts you, her MO is this: Take a dignified pose just out of your reach. Wait for you to admire her beauty and dignity. Huff if you take too long. Give a disgruntled mew if you still haven’t noticed. Like a queen, permit your approach and accept your offering of pets and praise. Purr enthusiastically, flop over, and soak up the adoration with joy. Grumble if you stop. Climb into your lap to “encourage” you to continue.

Octavia is a striking, playful, smarty pants, secret-softie of a kitten. If a kitten who knows her worth, plays hard, gives face, and is ready to melt into snuggly pudding sounds like your thing, Octavia may be the perfect companion for you.

Estimated date of birth July 2024
---
All of our kittens are currently in Foster Homes. They are not at our facility. Adoption counselors can arrange for you to meet the kittens once your application is approved. Kittens will be pre-adopted pending spay/neuter and may not be available for a few weeks.
Deposits will only be accepted once an application has been approved and meetings have taken place.
Deposits made PRIOR to approval are not refundable and will NOT hold a kitty for you. Kittens through 6 months $125 or 2 for $200; Kitties over 6 months $100 or 2 for $150.
---
Our Adoptable Kittens ARE NOT FERAL. We take them from the streets at a young age, and some are feral at the time of rescue. However, we spend many hours taming, socializing, and acclimating them to indoor life as a pet cat. They are currently friendly, healthy, and playful kittens who are just waiting for their special someone to take them home. All of our kittens are spayed or neutered, tested for FeLV/FIV, vaccinated against Distemper, and treated for fleas and other parasites.
---
Adoption App:
http://www.focusonferals.org/adopt/adoption-application/
