Nubbin's Story
Nubbin says:

My life has not been easy. I was dumped on campus and somehow hurt my tail. I was alone, scared, and my tail hurt so badly. I didn’t know if I would make it. I found a food and water bowl under some bushes one day. The other cats told me some nice people fed them and took care of them every day; maybe they would take care of me too. I made friends with the cats and followed them everywhere. It was so nice to finally have a full tummy, but my tail hurt so badly.
One day, a nice lady picked me up and brought me to a foster home. I had never been in a home, but it was warm and safe. Not long after that, they took me to a doctor who helped me. She told my foster Mom that my tail was so hurt that it had to go! I had surgery and now I feel SO much better, plus I feel like my little tail is adorable, I pretend I am a bobcat! I did find out I have something called FIV, but the doctor said I can still play with my friends and not give it to them. I am so happy to be pain-free and in a wonderful foster home with other kitties to play with. My foster Mom says I will be so happy when someone comes to adopt me. Will that be you? I am a little shy, but with time I am sure we can get to know one another and be great friends!

(Foster Mom here) Nubbin has been through a lot in her young life. She was most likely dumped on APSU with a tail that had been de-gloved at some point. I can’t imagine the pain she must have endured before being found. She tagged along with some of our colony cats, and they took care of her until one of our volunteers trapped her and brought her to me. She was spayed, along with losing all but an inch of her tail - a "nubbin". We also discovered, unfortunately, that she has FIV. It does not pose a threat to other cats or people, it just means that her immune system is not working as best as it should.
She is four months old and ready for a “furr-ever” home. She is shy and will do best in a home with older children. She loves other cats and would make a great playmate! She also gets along with our dogs as long as they give her her space. She is so sweet and loves scratches, canned food, and walks on the beach at sunset ?
