Noodle - Shy but learning to trust!'s Story
There are a lot of friendly ready-to-go cats at the Jefferson Pound...

BUT...you could also take a little leap of faith and consider adopting one of the cats who may be hanging in the back of their cage, a cat who is ready for a home but will need a bit of patience. A cat who gets along with other cats but will need some time to get used to humans (a skill I'm still working on myself, no cap ? )

Calico Noodle, who arrived at the pound in MAY (with kittens) has been in foster for 2.5 weeks and just returned yesterday! That was a pretty fast turnaround for a cat who spent months at the pound hiding in a carrier inside her cage and only coming out of it to eat and use her litter box.

Noodle isn't one of the "super-friendly" pound cats yet, but she has shown enough promise that we are sure she will be in the right home! This is what foster mom Susan has to say:

"Noodle has made great progress in the 2 1/2 weeks she was at camp. She came out of her cubby on the first day and never used it again! She learned how to enjoy playing very quickly and was very comfortable with Rudy. She purred during playtime. She spent most of her time looking out the window and frolicking around the bed in her room during the night messing up the blankets. She was fine with [foster] Toonie and should be good with another nice cat. She definitely adapted nicely to home life. I think she will be a sweetheart."

So there you have it. A sweetheart of a cat, all she needs is a chance! Now Noodle knows what a home is like. She did great! That's half the battle right there. If someone is looking for a cat to be a friend for their cat at home, Noodle is one of several cats at the Jefferson Pound in Lake Hopatcong, NJ who would be a spectacular choice!

And you'd be doing a great service for a cat who isn't ready to leap into anyone's arms.
Yet.
?

https://jefferson.seamlessdocs.com/f/preadopt

**Noodle, like all of our other cats, is indoor ONLY.
The average life span of an outdoor feral is two years. Outdoor cats are subject to these same elements and risk a distressing death.
Please speak with Kim, the shelter manager and the town's ACO, for more information regarding this.
