Noel, your best friend (and neck-warmer) who loooves you and follows you around!'s Story

This funny, elegant, dashing little house panther will spice up your morning routine and cosy up your times in bed, too! Please read about Noel below and, if interested in adopting or fostering her, send in your answers to the questions asked in this section (please send them in an email to philoctete@mailbug.com- please don't put your answers in a file attached to your email - thank you so much!). Everyone answering the questions in guaranteed a prompt reply (if you are seeing this, she is still in need of a home)!

If "elegant" and "just a little bit clingy" (a kitty who calls for you plaintively when she hears your voice but you're not in the room with her) fit your taste in felines, this kitten (rescued from a kill shelter) may be the one for you!

What will you love most about Noel? I think it’s the soothing times you are together, when she is kneading your lap (maybe as you sit on your sofa) and is emitting a purr so happy that it's a little throaty and chokey. She leans into you or puts her paw up on the center of your chest. If you lift her up in your arms and hold her high on your chest, she'll stay there as long as you pet her, and you can rest your head on her body, feeling her soft warm fur against your cheek as she purrs, nuzzling her with your nose. Stroking her makes you feel you are lowering your heart rate (and maybe blood pressure), even that you are meditating or going into an alpha brainwave state.

And I think you'll love how she follows you into the bathroom when you get up and are doing things in there to get ready for your day. She'll sit on the bathmat or on the toilet and just watch you, waiting patiently, and then following you out again. Maybe she's just waiting for her breakfast, but it's still really cute!

Do you have schoolwork to do on your laptop? She loves lying on your lap or as close to you as she can get as you work on your computer. She also loves to lie ON your laptop so that she gets the attention and the laptop doesn’t.

Noel, as of late October 2025, is almost 6 months of age. She uses her little meow in a gentle way to talk to you when you pet her (even if you pet her silently), and to make pleased comments about her own performance - when she aces, for instance, running up or down the staircase. She tries to be vocal like other cats but she has this little, tiny meow that barely makes a sound when she opens her mouth.

This loving kitten is determined to get to the top! (Of the scratching post or cat tree, that is.) She loves to run and play and leap in the air, but she does not play rough with humans (and human hands!) - she won't make her human constantly be saying "Ouch!", even though she'll really love to play with your shorts...WHEN you are wearing them. (You might say "ouch" if, when helping you with your email, as she purringly loves to do, she accidentally sends off one of her gibberish screeds to your employer. She also would probably make your pen say "ouch" if it could - she loves to chew on it [butting your hand at the same time, as though to say "me! NOT that pen - pet me!"] as you try to write.)

On the subject of shorts (and shirtsleeves), she loves any threads that are frayed and will make a game of/with them if you have any on you. When she is cuddling on the sofa with you, she licks your arms, grooming you like another cat; she may even groom your legs as you stand in the kitchen. And when she wants your attention, she’ll follow you around persistently with her tiny little mews and will playfully grab your legs gently with her arms.

At night, in chilly weather, if you sleep on your back, you may wake up to find her sleeping in the space between your neck and the pillow! So comforting! In warmer weather, she likes to nestle in the crook of your legs, or sleep against your legs. Even on a hot night, something about having part of herself touch part of you seems to be a comfort to her (and sometimes she goes all out with this and flings her whole body over your shins), though she does not necessarily stay with you all night (she needs you [as You and not just as Food-dispenser] and also needs time by herself sometimes). Sometimes, too, she decides to attack your feet as they move under the blanket - that's typical kitten behavior, of course! But she does not seem to be the sort of kitten who won't let you sleep when she wants her breakfast earlier than you want to get up!

Sometimes you will see her suckling on your blanket and kneading it, if it is right beside you (although she is certainly a lap-cat, she also likes to sit beside you, within easy petting distance, especially if someone else is on your lap); she was separated from her mother at too young an age for a little kitten. She loves other cats & dogs (especially if they are on board for "parenting" her), but is also a really good choice if you want to live with just one cat (and no dog). If you do live with a dog, it’ll make you laugh to see how she follows your doggie around.

One of the funniest things about her is how you can catch her looking startled, kind of looking cross-eyed down at the tip of her tongue showing through her closed mouth. Has she just been cleaning herself and just forgot to bring her tongue all the way back in, or yawning or eating? Uh, no, she hasn't. It's just there, for no discernible reason. Watch the startled look slowly grow sleepy and it turns into a falling-asleep-standing-up look! If you're hoping for social media content, you might be happy to know that she is given to flicking her tongue out quite a lot - when playing, when grooming herself of course, and sometimes for no discernible reason - so you ought to have copious opportunities to capture a picture of her with her tongue out.

If you don't like eating alone, Noel’s the mealtime mate for you. Do you like healthy food? She'll share your hempseed butter with you. Do you like junkier food? She'll tear into your cornbread with you. When you are through with the charms of "sharing" your meal with her, she will serenely and sedately curl up nearby you to take an observer role.

You might be tempted to call Noel “lady-like" (she has a mild little meep of a mew, in spite of having a lusty loud purr when she is butting your chest and editing your emails), because she is so placid and feels so delicate in your arms. Her body is soft and warm.

A few things to note: It may take up to one or two months with you before Noel shows her full follows-you-around-asking-for-petting real personality, but during that time she will certainly lie on your lap and also follow you around. Please have patience with her whilst she becomes your looooving best friend. She is not a big fan of being held and carried, and she will always enjoy some independent time and/or time with other cats or dogs. She NEVER attacks/lashes out at you - the worst she does is get skittish if you descend on her too abruptly and slurpily for hugs and kisses before she has gotten to know you.

If interested in adoption or fostering, please answer the questions below by sending your answers in an email to philoctete@mailbug.com - thanks! If you seem like a good match, the next step would be to exchange references (a vet reference or a work/employment-related reference from you, references from previous recent adopters from me) and arrange a time/day for her to come to your home to meet you (and, if you like her, to stay).

1. What kind of diet would you feed your kitty (dry, canned, raw/homemade wet food, or a combination of these)? Please mention brands of canned or dry or raw (if you would not make your own raw food). If a combination of wet and dry, please mention what ratio dry to wet and whether you intend to allow free access to food all day or overnight. Thanks!

2. What type/brand of litter do you intend to offer? What sort of water?

3. Do you intend for your cat to be indoor, outdoor, or indoor/outdoor?

4. What are your views, pro or con, on declawing?

5. What are your views, pro or con, on spaying/neutering?

6. Are there any other humans and non-humans you currently share your home with and, if so, could you mention who they are? What sort of home is it (rented house, owned apartment, trailer, dorm, yurt, etc.), and in what town/state?

7. Under what circumstances would you decide not to keep your kitty with you in your family/home? (We are 100% no-kill, so if at any time you no longer want her to be part of your family and living in your home, please contact Affectionate Adoptions so that I can take her back and find her a permanent home.)

8. Could you share some information about yourself such as profession or job/source(s) of income, age or approximate age, area and institution of study if you a student, and your interests/hobbies/leisure pursuits? It can help with matchmaking - I want her to have a caregiver as cool and compassionate as she is!

9. (Optional) Is there anything about her in the picture or the description of her that speaks to you or calls to you especially?
