Nintendo's Story

Nintendo is a 4.5-year-old dark tabby with a heart that’s taken time to unfold — but once it does, it’s absolutely worth the wait. He came to us with several other cats after his owner passed away. All of them had lived in the home with very little human interaction for nearly a year, and when Nintendo first arrived, he made it very clear that he was overwhelmed and unsure. "Spicy" is the perfect word for those early days!

But with time, patience, and months of decompression, we started to see the real Nintendo — and he is goofy, affectionate, and full of personality.Nintendo loves head and neck scratches, and the more he trusts you, the more he leans into pets. With new people, though, he’s still very nervous. When unfamiliar faces walk into the room, he hides right away — which is a big reason he’s been with us since April 2025. But when staff members enter? He’s instantly at their feet, ready for attention, chin scratches, and his turn in the spotlight.

One of his signature moves is gently grabbing your hand with his paw when you stop petting him — his polite (and hilarious) way of saying, "Excuse me... I wasn’t done." He’s also extremely playful with the other cats, but he has a more dominant play style, which isn’t every cat’s cup of tea. For this reason, we recommend a foster-to-adopt for multi-cat homes so everyone can meet and make sure it’s a good fit.

We also think Nintendo could do well with dogs, again best tested through a foster-to-adopt trial. Kids likely aren’t the best match for him unless they are older & truly understand cat boundaries and body language.

Nintendo is a wand-toy fanatic and will happily bat around or pounce on just about anything that looks fun. Beneath his timid beginnings is a playful, charming boy who just wants a person he can trust and adore.

He will go home neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped, all ready for his next chapter. If you’re looking for a cat with a heartwarming glow-up story, a goofy streak, and a deeply loyal side once he bonds to you, Nintendo could be your perfect match. Come meet the sweet boy who went from spicy to silly — he’s so ready to find his home.

Animal Care Society Inc's Adoption Policy
Visit our web site at http://www.animalcaresociety.org/ Why Adopt from ACS? One of the best things about life is that it’s full of second chances! When people adopt a new family member from a shelter they are giving a pet a second chance in life! Many folks go to a breeder for a specific type of pet but those same animals can be found at the Animal Care Society! And if there isn’t such an animal at our shelter, ACS staffers are happy to refer interested parties to the RIGHT breed rescue group! The pets available at the Animal Care Society are special. Careful selection, constant socialization, diligent loving daily care and even hand raised kittens and puppies make our candidates for adoption a premium in the shelter world. While we are still a shelter, we make every effort to make a cat or dog feel at home here! It goes a long way in deferring some of the kennel fatigue experienced by shelter animals.
