Ninja's Story

Ninja has been waiting 412 days

She was adopted from us as a kitten and has been back with us since August 2025. She's seven years old now, beautiful with one green eye and one amber eye. She's been through some things in her life but give her time and patience and she'll show you who she really is.

What Ninja loves:
* Walking up while you're at your desk, putting her paws on your thighs, and asking to be picked up
* Head on your chest, purring (when she's decided it's time)
* Sitting right next to you with a paw on your knee
* Cat bird videos on TV
* Her daily five minutes of zoomies (then she's done!)
* Wet food (She will even eat her medicine in her wet food!!!). She gobbles it right up.

What you should know
* She can't live with dogs. A previous owner didn't handle introducing a new dog well, and it left its mark. She'll be best as an only cat also.
* She's slow to trust. Her last home was a hard time for her. She needs to be supported through new transitions and allowed time and space to learn she is safe. It's fear, not attitude. Allow her space to showcase a few hisses and then she will warm up and ask for pets and a seat beside you, but it takes time.
* She needs space. She decides when she wants to be touched, and pushing her boundaries past her comfort level doesn't work.
* She good at taking her daily medication for occasional hissing episodes, we have seen them be set off by a strange cat outside at night. Fortunately, since she started the medication, she's been her calm, affectionate self.
* Vet visits are very hard for her. Her fear response is strong and she will need medication to help relax her. Possibly having a mobile vet on hand to visit her in her home may see better results.

Ninja is not the easiest match, and we won't pretend she is. But she's been through a lot and deserves to find peace and love. Her foster mom knows what a loving companion she can be and we hope to find her that very special adopter, and make her next move her forever one.
Applications at:

http://dogwoodanimalrescue.org/adoption-application-cats/

You can follow us on social media at:

https://.www.instagram.com/dogwoodanimalrescue/
https://.www.facebook.com/.DogwoodAnimalRescue/

Making a difference, one animal at a time.
