Nigel's Story

Meet one of the sweetest cat souls on the planet, our best boy Nigel! Anyone would be beyond lucky to add him to their family.

At first blush, Nigel is shy and loves his cubbies/safe spaces, but he is a love sponge. He exudes happiness, purrs, rolls around, when anyone seeks him out to give him love. He has been through a lot and has NEVER shown any sign of aggression. That says an enormous amount about his beautiful personality.

He came to Salty Paws after a good samaritan helped in off the streets of Savannah. He was clearly a house cat booted out who had no survival skills and was in very rough shape physically. He has made miraculous gains towards health and almost fully well.

He is in a loving foster home (a local artist recovering from cancer treatment), soaking up the good life; and continuing his path towards health and wellness.

Nigel is a big, round, bear cat that is all boy in looks, with a gorgeous swirly marbled tabby coat, boy cheeks; and the most expressive yellow-green eyes. He is a super easy cat to care for, perfect litter box habits, eats anything you give him (even the healthy stuff!) is super quiet and gets along great with cats and dogs. He loves being brushed, chatted to and fussed over. He is being fostered with two cats and a small dog and is great with them. We think he might like a pal in his new home.

We are looking for a patient, kind, gentle loving person or family who can give this very special cat time to adjust at his own speed. We don't think it will take too long, once he knows you are kind he melts into you, peeps, etc. Just he hasn't quite figured out how to seek out love; and will need a nice, safe open-door cubby to help him along. He is starting to play!

Nigel can adopt as your one and only; or into a home with another cat or feline-friendly dog looking for a pal. He is estimated at 3-8 years old, neutered, FIV/Felk negative and ready for his true and final FUREVER home. Is that you?

This is one of the most special cats out there. A true old soul with a heart of gold.

If you are interested in adopting Nigel, please fill out our required, easy online application, which can be found here:

https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/SPLC/Cat

For the safety of our animals, home checks are a requirement of adoption, but we make that as unobtrusive and convenient as we can.

THANK YOU for considering an adult rescue cat in need!
