Nemo's Story
I cannot stress just how sweet this little girl is. She was mostly kept in a dog crate while recuperating, but when we let her out she would just roll on her side or back and constantly knead. She is always kneading and purring. She is such a happy and relaxed cat. She would often come up and grab my hand to pull it down towards her if I wasn’t scratching her, because she wanted more scratches on her face, which was incredibly endearing. This poor little girl has been on medications for quite a while now, and she takes even the most bitter medication like a pro. She did fantastic during her bath (with a little Gabapentin, just in case, since I didn’t know how she would react). She is a very quiet and also a fairly lazy cat, not a hyper cat in any way.

Health Background:
Nemo was a feral cat in a colony in our neighborhood. She became critically ill with a respiratory virus, refused to eat, and lost a lot of weight in a very short time. We pulled her from the colony to get her some life-saving veterinary care. While recuperating from her respiratory virus, she developed an umbilical hernia from sneezing, so she had surgery to fix the hernia on 9/28/2024, along with a dental cleaning and some Clindoral on one of her teeth. Her respiratory panel was all negative, but she was put on Doxycycline anyway, just to see if that would help. She also had blood & urine labs done, and all of that is completely normal. We were going to just get Nemo some veterinary care and put her back out in the colony, but they are intentionally running over & poisoning the cats in our neighborhood, and also, she is so exceptionally sweet that we just can’t put her back out there knowing that she could easily go into a home. She would also be a target for the people wishing to do the cats harm, since she’s so sweet and trusting. No one at the vet’s office can believe that she was previously feral, because she’s the sweetest, happiest, most chill little girl. She is healthy now and is ready for her new home. As much as we love her and would love to keep her, we have 7 cats of our own with constant medical issues, behavioral issues, spraying, fighting, etc, and bringing another cat into the house would only exacerbate the stress and those other issues with our own cats.
