Nemo's Story

Nemo is a very special cat and will require an adopter who can give her the time and space she will need to settle into her new home. Nemo was surrendered to a high kill shelter for reasons unknown. She displayed signs of fear and aggression while in her crate. She did have times of happiness and allowed petting and attention. She caught a break and got adopted. Unfortunately, after about a week, Nemo attacked her new owner, and she was brought back to the shelter. Nemo became a rescue only cat due to her behavior. She has been in foster care for a few weeks now and is very vocal in her foster room. She has displayed signs of aggression and has attacked (claws) her foster mom a few times. Nemo will be going to the vet for a complete work up as well as behavior plan so that we can best meet her needs.

Only Maine Coons Rescue's Adoption Policy

Are you interested in adopting with us? If you would like to become an approved adopter with OMC (Only Maine Coons Rescue) please complete our Adoption Application. Once you have been approved, you may choose a cat/kitten to adopt. Next we make sure you are both a good match, and then the adoption will proceed. Once you are approved to adopt a particular cat/kitten, we will ask you to complete the Adoption Agreement form and to make your adoption donation. If you are adopting a young kitten that has not been spayed or neutered yet, we will ask you to complete the OMC Spay/Neuter Contract and to prepay for this procedure with your vet. You may also use one of the programs that OMC offers; Friends of Animals, www.friendsofanimals.org, or the NJ Spay/Neuter Program (Your Application Coordinator will guide you). Please note that kittens under the age of 7 months must be adopted into a home with an existing cat or in pairs. Our adoption policy requires that an adopter have a cat already in the home, or that they adopt 2 cats from our group when choosing a kitten under the age of 7 months.
