Nemo's Story

Nemo is an exuberant, playful, classic tuxedo. When he’s not zipping around and playing, he loves watching TV with his foster for hours, using her leg as a back rest. After TV time, he’ll take a restorative nap on the bed — to which you are invited. What a life! And like many cats, he loves Churu, preferably getting the tasty treat sitting on your lap. Cheek and chin scratches definitely get him purring, and his biscuit making is top notch.

Nemo, now about 6 months old, was rescued from a Brooklyn backyard with his 3 littermates at about 3 months old, having had limited exposure to people prior to rescue. He has come a long way through the love and devotion of his fosters and he’s doing great. He’ll be shy at first, but give him a few weeks and he’ll be eating out of your hands and showing you his prowess with his favorite wand toy, including amazing high flying acrobatics.

Nemo was initially fostered with his sister and loved chasing and teasing her, pausing playtime regularly to groom her. Now he is looking for a forever home with a resident cat – or adopt him and another kitten! Nemo is neutered, FIV and FeLV negative, vaccinated for rabies and FVRCP, microchipped, and so ready to become part of your family.

Backyard Cats of Bed-Stuy's Adoption Policy
I ask that everyone interested in adopting a cat from me starts the application process by filling out my adoption application! The more details you can provide, the better. You can find the app here: https://www.backyardcatsofbedstuy.com/adoption-application Once I've received your application, if I'm interested in moving forward I'll reach out to schedule a Zoom call (or sometimes an in-person meeting, where possible). I often have the foster join as well to talk more specifically about each cat's personality and needs. If the meet-and-greet goes well, and if requested, the potential adopter can arrange a time to meet the cat(s) at their foster homes, or they can start out with a trial "foster-to-adopt" period of one month, to make sure it is a good fit for both cats and humans. A cat isn't considered "fully adopted" until they have been through proper vetting (spayed or neutered, given rabies and FVRCP vaccines, tested for FeLV and FIV, microchipped, and dewormed and treated for fleas). I love to stay in touch with my adopters and often receive updates about their new pets thriving in their forever homes!
