Nellie's Story
Nellie is a tiny black panther with an extraordinary story and an even bigger heart. She was found running along the side of a freeway on-ramp, frightened and clearly abandoned by her humans. In a horrifying moment, Nellie jumped down a nearly 100-foot wall, so her rescuer climbed under a fence and onto the side of the freeway to reach her. Somehow, she walked away with just scrapes.

From that day forward, it was clear that Nellie is a true survivor. Despite everything she has endured in her short life, Nellie is incredibly affectionate and gentle.

She loves people deeply and seeks out comfort, cuddles, and reassurance, as if she knows she is finally safe. Her body tells the story of her resilience, a cauliflower ear from previous infections and a soft ring of white fur around her neck where her hair was once missing from some kind of trauma, now grown back like a halo against her otherwise jet-black coat.

Nellie has every reason to be wary of the world, yet she chooses love instead. She bonds closely with her people and will happily curl up beside them, purring as though she’s making up for lost time. Nellie is a truly special cat who deserves a home that recognizes her strength, her gentleness, and her remarkable capacity for love.
