Mush's Story

This sweet girl has been waiting for her forever home. At a young age, she’s already had 2 litters, and as a fantastic mom as she's been, she’s done. Mush is spayed, up to date on her shots, microchipped and FeLV/FIV negative. Mush showed up at a local restaurant in 2024. She was nervous of people at first, but the staff there fed and worked with her and they did a great job because Mush is an all around great cat! She’s mellow, loving and happy just to have a comfy bed and someone to pet her. She purrs as soon as you do. Mush gets along with other cats and dogs. At first she tolerated dogs, but now (as long as the dog is respectful of her space and doesn't approach fast) she will walk up to them to give an eskimo kiss and a head butt. Though she gets along great with other animals, she is a very quiet/keeps to herself cat. She'd thrive in a home where she was the only cat with a dog, or another cat and a dog. WARM - Waccamaw Animal Rescue Mission's Adoption Policy

To begin the adoption process, adopters are required to fill out an application form. Upon receipt a volunteer will conduct a background check with your current or former veterinarian. If a vet is not listed, please explain why. Once a background check has been conducted and approved, a volunteer will email you to set up a meet and greet with the animal you are interested in. If you are applying for a dog and currently have dogs, we do require you to bring them to the meet and greet so that we can see if they will be a good match together. If all goes well with the meet and greet, we then schedule a home visit. It is important that we approve the environment where our adoptees will live the rest of their lives. It's equally important that they meet other animals that live in the same home. Once the application, meet and greet, and home visit notes are reviewed by the Board of Directors, a volunteer will contact you regarding approval or non-approval. We appreciate your kindness, understanding, and patience in this process. Please remember we are volunteers doing this in our free time, so the process can take up to a week or more depending on our volunteers and your schedule. We can't stress enough that these animals have been through a lot in their lives before they came to the rescue. Their well-being comes first. It is very stressful for an animal to bounce from home to rescue to home to rescue, etc. Our goal is to find them their forever home and to not end up back in the system or ever have to relive what they’ve already been through.
