Murphy's Story

Murphy is a polydactyl cat! He was born outside in a colony in St Inigoes. He had very loving caretakers who couldn't afford to get him fixed, but did feed the cats every day. When they learned about Feral Cat Rescue's TNR program, they were happy to get their whole colony fixed! They also allowed us to take some of their friendlier cats to try to find them amazing indoor homes.

Murphy gets along well with other cats now since he's been neutered, but back when he was intact, his fighting for territory and mating rights led to him contracting FIV. This virus is only spread through bites so there is no risk to other cats in the home as long as a slow introduction is done. FIV cannot be spread to humans. Because Murphy has a lowered immune system, if he ever gets a kitty cold, it could be life threatening to him, so he should get to a vet immediately. There are immune boosting supplements that help. Most FIV cats live very long normal lives with proper care.

Once you meet Murphy, you'll want to adopt him! From his big mitten paws to his brown fluffy tail, he is a huge character! He loves to play and will keep you entertained for hours! Get him a cat condo. It's his favorite place to be! And when the day is done, prepare to cuddle up with your bestie for a warm snooze. He's a great companion and will make anyone happy they adopted him.

Meet the available cats and kittens at the Petco in California MD on Saturdays 10-2 and Sundays 11-3 or at the Meow Dyer Cat Cafe in Leonardtown MD.
Apply online at www.feralcatrescuemd.org.
