I’ve been with Pet Angel for a long while, and I’m so excited to finally be up for adoption and looking for my very own forever family!<br/><br/>I joined Pet Angel in 2023 after being transferred from another organization because I was so large that I couldn’t fit comfortably in their cages. Pet Angel had the space and resources to take me in and help me start my weight-loss journey. Since then, I’ve spent over three years working toward a healthier weight, with regular veterinary care and lots of love along the way. Now, I’ve finally reached the weight my vet wanted me to be at before I could start looking for my forever home!<br/><br/>Something important to understand about my journey is that cat weight loss has to be carefully managed by a veterinarian. Losing weight too quickly or not getting enough calories can cause serious, potentially life-threatening health complications. My vet has monitored my progress throughout the years, making sure I’m getting enough calories to stay healthy while gradually losing weight at a safe pace. This has been a long process, but it’s been worth it!<br/><br/>I’ve spent most of my time at Pet Angel in a free-roam room designed for extra-large cats, where I’ve had several extra-large roommates over the years. I currently share my space with three female cats, and I absolutely LOVE my girls! One of my roommates was even born with a paw deformity that leaves her legs ending at her elbows. She may have extra needs of her own, but that doesn’t stop me from loving her! Cuddling with my feline friends is one of my favorite pastimes, and I hope to find a home where I can continue enjoying their company.<br/><br/>_____ MY WEIGHT-LOSS JOURNEY ISN’T OVER YET! _____<br/><br/>I know, I know. Everyone thinks extra-large cats are adorable, but there’s a lot more to my size than meets the eye. Being overweight has a significant impact on my quality of life, mobility, and overall health. When I weighed over 20 pounds, I struggled to get around and became winded very quickly. I’m naturally a big boy because I’m tall and long, so I’ll always weigh more than a smaller cat. But being excessively overweight was making it difficult for me to enjoy life the way I should.<br/><br/>As of September 2026, I weigh 18 pounds! This is the weight my veterinarian wanted me to reach before I could be considered ready for adoption. However, my personal goal is to get down to 15 pounds, and my vet may recommend further adjustments depending on how I’m doing once I reach that milestone.<br/><br/>My future family will need to understand that my weight-loss journey is not finished just because I’m ready to go home. I need an owner who is committed to continuing my veterinarian-approved weight-loss plan and helping me reach and maintain a healthy weight. My progress has taken years, and I need someone willing to make my long-term health a priority.<br/><br/>_____ MY DIET IS VERY IMPORTANT! _____<br/><br/>I’m a very food-motivated boy, which means I’m always ready for a meal, but it also means my future owner will need to be strict about my feeding routine. I currently eat a specific portion of prescription diet food twice a day, with my prescription wet food in the morning and my prescription dry food in the evening. I have access to fresh water 24/7, and I absolutely love both my water fountain and my water bowl!<br/><br/>My feeding schedule is carefully portion-controlled, and I cannot have additional treats, table scraps, or food outside of my prescribed diet. I’m looking for a family that can stick to this routine consistently and understand that giving me extra food, even when I beg for it, could undo years of progress and negatively affect my health.<br/><br/>I also cannot live in a home where I have access to food all day long. If food is left out, I WILL eat it, and I could quickly regain the weight I’ve worked so hard to lose. If you have other cats, they will need to be able to follow a scheduled feeding routine, too, or you’ll need to have a reliable way to keep me from accessing their food. My health depends on it!<br/><br/>_____ LET’S GET MOVING! _____<br/><br/>Along with my carefully managed diet, I would benefit from regular exercise to help me continue losing weight and improve my mobility. Thankfully, I LOVE to play!<br/><br/>Stick toys are one of my absolute favorite things, and I go crazy for them! I also love kicking around my catnip kick sticks. While I’m not interested in using a cat wheel, I do enjoy using the staircase in my current room because it makes getting around easier for me.<br/><br/>My future family can use my love of toys and my natural prey drive to encourage me to run and play. If you have stairs in your home, you might even be able to use them to help me get some extra exercise by playing with me at the top and bottom. Of course, any exercise plan should be appropriate for my size and mobility, but I’m definitely a boy who enjoys having something fun to chase!<br/><br/>With the right combination of diet, exercise, and veterinary care, I have the opportunity to continue improving my quality of life. I just need a family who will help me along the way!<br/><br/>_____ A BIG BOY WITH AN EVEN BIGGER PERSONALITY! _____<br/><br/>Now that you know about my weight-loss journey, let’s talk about the fun stuff! I have quite the personality, and I’m not afraid to show it.<br/><br/>I LOVE attention, I love to talk, and I prefer to be wherever you are. I’m the kind of boy who wants to be part of whatever you’re doing, especially if there’s a chance you might have food or a toy for me! When it’s time to relax, you can often find me stretched out in one of my extra-large cat beds, belly up with my legs spread out like a starfish. And yes, you’ll need to get me the BIG beds because I’m a long and tall boy who needs plenty of room to stretch out!<br/><br/>I also absolutely adore female cats. I love cuddling with my feline friends and would be thrilled to find a home with a friendly female cat who enjoys snuggling, too. I’ve spent years living with other cats, and having feline companionship is a big part of my life. If you already have cats, they’ll need to be comfortable with my affectionate personality and, most importantly, able to follow a scheduled feeding routine.<br/><br/>However, I do have one very important quirk that my future family needs to know about.<br/><br/>_____ MY LOVE FOR FOOD COMES WITH A FEW CHALLENGES. _____<br/><br/>Because I’m so highly food-motivated, I sometimes have a hard time distinguishing between hands that are offering affection and hands that might have something delicious in them. I may grab at your hands, bat at them, or nibble without warning because I think they might have food! I’m also not afraid to stand up on my back legs and reach for your hands if I think there’s a snack involved.<br/><br/>I’m not trying to be mean, but this behavior can be unpredictable, and my future family will need to understand and respect it. I need an owner who is comfortable managing my food-driven behavior, understands that I may grab or nibble without warning, and will work with me to redirect that behavior rather than encouraging it.<br/><br/>Because I can nibble unexpectedly, I am NOT a suitable match for a home with young children. I need a home where everyone understands my boundaries and can interact with me safely. My future owner will also need to be mindful of where they keep food and how they handle feeding time so I don’t get into anything I shouldn’t.<br/><br/>I also wouldn’t be a good match for a home with dogs. I’m much happier with my feline friends, and I’d prefer to keep it that way!<br/><br/>_____ MY PERFECT FOREVER HOME _____<br/><br/>I’m looking for a family that loves big cats, understands that my health needs are a lifelong commitment, and is excited to help me continue my progress. My ideal home would have:<br/><br/>• A dedicated owner who will continue my weight-loss journey. My diet, portions, feeding schedule, and exercise are essential to my long-term health. My future owner must be committed to following my veterinarian-approved plan.<br/><br/>• A scheduled feeding routine with no free-feeding. I cannot have food available all day, and any other cats in the home will need to be fed on a schedule or have their food kept completely inaccessible to me.<br/><br/>• A home without young children. Because I can grab, bat at, and nibble hands without warning, I need an adult household or a home with older, mature children who can understand and respect my boundaries.<br/><br/>• A home without dogs. I’m happiest around other cats and would prefer not to share my home with a canine companion.<br/><br/>• Ideally, a friendly female feline companion. I absolutely love my female roommates and would be thrilled to have another cat to cuddle with, provided they’re comfortable with me and can follow a scheduled feeding routine.<br/><br/>• An indoor-only lifestyle. I need to remain safely indoors, where my family can monitor my diet, exercise, and overall health.<br/><br/>I’m fixed, microchipped, up to date on all my vaccinations, and negative for FIV/FELV.<br/><br/>I’ve spent over three years working toward a healthier life, and now I’m finally ready for the next chapter.
