Muffin's Story

Muffin (F, tan tabby, short hair) was rescued from a residential area in West Torrance in July 2022. Born in May 2022, she is spayed and vaccinated and ready for her forever home.

Muffin can go to a home with another cat or she may do well on her own. She was fostered in a home with other cats and quite a few humans including small children (Please see our Instagram Highlight for the cuddle party photos.) However, we believe she may do best in a quieter home where she can become comfortable quickly and get all the pets she wants from her favorite human.

She is initially shy around humans and runs from reaching hands, but she purrs for pets if you approach her while she's lounging and after she becomes comfortable she will seek you out on the couch for a pet session or even some biscuit making in your lap. She is very affectionate in this way, showing up at your side and head bumping your outstretched hand immediately to let you know she wants pets. She especially loves butt pets, arching her back for vigorous rubs! She also loves to play, often seeking out and trying to get close to our resident older cats, but to no avail (they're grumpy). She especially loves playing with toys and will crouch low, wiggle her butt, and run in for the attack.

Because she is our longest resident in foster care, Muffin is also available as a foster-to-adopt* addition to your home.

Muffin is food motivated and will turn up promptly for meal time, meowing to sound the dinner alarm. She can be coaxed out when she's feeling shy with the rattle of the treat jar.

She will hide under the bed when there are new visitors in the house. If you do decide to open your home to Muffin, we suggest having them live in a small room to start (such as a bathroom), with zero hiding places. As you can expect, she is alert and stiff during adoption meet and greets, so instead of petting you may prefer to feed a Churu (which we will provide).

She is on a 100% wet food diet, as dry food is not as healthful for cats. She has been fostered in a home with young children and adult cats, so she is good with both.

Muffin is FIV+ (tested February 2023). FIV cats lead happy, normal lives with a good diet and wellness visits at the vet.

Muffin happily shares her foster home with other FIV- cats. Casual, non-aggressive contact (ex. grooming or sharing water bowls), does not transmit the virus to other cats. We like to say, she tested positive for being cute.

------

If you're interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption form. Adoption fee is $150 per cat and covers the spay and vaccination fees.

Adoption Form: https://forms.gle/U9Fj8rsr2dE3EqJp6

More photos of the Muffin can be found here:
Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/rosiesacademy/
Photo album: https://photos.app.goo.gl/rrFTVte2R5c9w9gV8

These links can also be found under MORE ABOUT ROSIE'S ACADEMY on the right navigation.

*For foster-to-adopt applicants, please make a note in the last question of the Adoption Form. For foster-to-adopt homes, you will be responsible for all costs associated with taking care of the cats (ie. food and litter), but Rosie's Academy will cover medical care. After a month of fostering, we will check back in to see if you'd like to formally adopt.

Our Mission
Rosie's Academy's cat priorities: adopt kittens in pairs, feed wet food, and TNR (trap neuter return). Our kittens are adopted out in pairs, or to families already with a young cat. Neither humans nor dogs can take the place of a cat companion for another cat. Two cats means a better quality of life for the cats, and a bet...
