Mr. Walnut's Story

Meet Walnut - the ultimate snuggle sidekick! If you're looking for a cat who will actually hang out with you, Walnut is your guy. This super-social, ultra-friendly cuddle bug settled into his foster home like he'd always been part of the family. He's got a little tongue that sticks out just a bit, and honestly...it's ridiculously cute!

Between that and his constant purrs, he's impossible not to fall in love with. Walnut is happiest right next to his people-curled up on a lap during a Netflix binge, stretched out in a patch of sunshine by the window, or following his people around to see what's happening next. He especially enjoyed playing with the two toddler boys in his foster home, and soaking up affection from everyone he meets. He hasn't met other animals yet, but since he's neutered, his FIV+ status will not be an issue in a home with other compatible cats after a slow introduction (see below for more information on FIV).

Walnut has allergies that are well controlled. He's on a special vet-prescribed diet and meds that are helping. Walnut recently had dental surgery and recovered well! He does have a mouth condition called stomatitis, which is common in cats with FIV. Whoever adopts him will need to be prepared to continue his treatment alongside the direction of their full-service veterinarian.

What Walnut needs most is a family who will love him as fiercely as he loves them-and trust us, this boy has a lot of love to give! If you want a devoted companion who brings sunshine, snuggles, and endless charm (tiny tongue included), Walnut is ready to brighten your home!

------------------------------------

This cat has tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), which is specific to the felines and is not transmissible to dogs, humans, or any other animals. Cats with FIV can live normal, happy, healthy lives, but the virus can weaken a cat's immune system. FIV is spread from cat to cat via mating or deep puncture bite wounds. Thankfully, all our cats are spayed or neutered, so mating is no longer an option! Since FIV does not spread through casual contact like grooming, sneezing, and food/litter sharing, FIV+ cats can live with other cats that have tested negative as long as the cats get along without fighting. Our staff will be happy to tell you more about FIV, and you can learn more about FIV here: phillypaws.org/fiv

------------------------------------

This cat is currently located in a PAWS foster home. Please email their foster parent at taylerefay@gmail.com to learn more about them! In order to meet with any cats in foster care, you will need to have a fully processed and approved application first. To get the adoption process started, please submit an adoption application online at phillypaws.org/catapp. If you have any questions for our adoption team, feel free to email adoptions@phillypaws.org or call 215-238-9901 ext.30.
