Mr. Pickles's Story
Mr. Pickles was brought in as a stray. When the staff noticed he was ear tipped, they were just going to vaccinate and return him. He was so incredibly sweet that the staff didn't have the heart to turn him loose. He deserved a home. He quickly became the shelter favorite. During intake, a blood test was done for FIV and FELV. Both were negative. That test also tested for heartworms and unfortunately he tested positive. This put him in a pickle. He couldn't be released for sure now with heartworms and adopting him out would be difficult. Yep, he was in a real pickle! Hence the name, Mr. Pickles. He's been in a foster home since and is thriving. He gets along with all the other foster cats and the resident cats. He is calm, quiet and low energy. He does enjoy playing with the foster kittens. He sleeps with his foster mom every night and is the perfect snuggle buddy. His foster mom says he's literally the perfect cat! There is no heartworm treatment for cats like there is for dogs so it's just a waiting game now. His last heartworm test, the dot was lighter so hopefully that means the heartworms are dying off and he that will be heartworm free soon. Mr. Pickles is available for adoption despite having heartworms. If someone wants to give this sweet boy a home even though he has heartworms, you are more than welcome to apply. We know it can be a scary diagnosis for a cat, so for those who want to wait for him to be heartworm free that's fine too. He's safe in foster no matter what the next test says.

https://form.jotform.com/SJBPAnimalShelter/adoption-application
