Mr. Goodbar's Story

In September 2025, a woman approached a volunteer and said there was a cat in need near her home that is surrounded by only farm land. Being the dedicated and caring animal lover that he is, the volunteer drove 20 miles to rescue the cat and then got him to our shelter for medical attention. This cat would NOT HAVE SURVIVED much longer on his own. He was dehydrated, malnourished and infested with fleas. In addition, he had open sores all over his body, green pus in his eyes, drooling out the side of his mouth, and his nose was bloody.

The cat received all the medical care that he needed, and the volunteer took him in to foster. It took months for him to recover.

He was named Mr. Goodbar and has proven himself to be just as sweet as the candy! The foster said, Mr. Goodbar is “a great cat! He is about four years old, lovable and super friendly! He is a big beautiful cat and he eats everything.”

He has been neutered, tested negative for FeLV/FIV, microchipped and is up to date on vaccines.

Visit the Dewitt PetSmart if you'd like to meet this sweetie.
