Mr Cat's Story
My name is Mr. Cat, but I’d rather be Mr. [your last name]!

THE BASICS:

DSH; orange tabby with white
ADULT MALE; Est DOB: December 11, 2018
ARRIVAL: January 16, 2021
HISTORY: Mr. Cat was a neighborhood stray who was trapped so a leg injury could be treated.
MEDICAL NOTE: Mr. Cat tested positive for FIV.

Mr. Cat came to us after a resident of the neighborhood he frequented trapped him so his leg could be treated for an injury. After taking him in, the vets realized he was FIV+ and thus could not be released back into the wild. Since he was friendly and well-liked by the neighborhood, the resident attempted to take him in herself, but her other cats did not like him. He found his way here, and we are so happy to have him. Mr. Cat only needed a couple of days to get used to his new home before he was sidling up to staff members for pets. He is incredibly affectionate, and as you can see from his photos it can be hard to get a good picture of him since he wants pets so much! He also gets along well with the other cats in the room and enjoys playing with fellow R3 resident Bronx. We quickly fell in love with him and have enjoyed watching his personality continue to blossom. If this bubbly boy sounds like he’d make a good addition to your family, come meet him for yourself and seal the deal!

Dec 2025 Update: Our feline citizen Mr Cat is a guy on the go! From day to day, you never quite know where you'll find him. Is he inside or outside? Is he on a shelf, in a cubby hole or perhaps stretched out on the floor? If we were to call him out for his most frequented spot, he'd likely say "on the table right by the front door." In this location, he has the best chance of getting extra pets and attention as staff and volunteers come and go. He's had some tustles with roomies Timothy (word is that he's a bully with everyone!) and Jacque but at this point, it looks like they have all agreed to disagree and simply stay well clear of each other. Mr Cat continues to enjoy his special time with volunteer Scott who knows exactly where to pet and rub on him to elicit the maximum pleasure.

Fall Update 2025: “Ahhh. He’s my pal!” when asking volunteer Scott about our handsome orange fella MR CAT. Well, he’s really everyone’s pal and he’s doing great. Seems he’s reached an agreement with resident cat Jacque that they can both co-exist. Jacque is leaving him alone giving Mr Cat more time to be on the alert when Scott comes calling. It’s not unusual for Mr Cat to be relaxing in front of resident Binx’s condo which is right by the main door and easily accessible to those visiting the room. He’s always good for a few pets and if he keeps his tongue hanging 1/2 out (which is fairly often) making him all the more adorable, the petting/stroking session will likely last longer.

Spring Update 2025: That bully boy Jacques is no longer bugging me so I'm pretty pleased. In my last note, I think I shared with you that he had been hissing and giving me an evil eye and I wished for him to please leave me alone. And now he has! Perhaps with some newer kitties, he has moved on?? In any event, I try to be a conflict avoider and stay out of the limelight and taking cover in smaller cubes and spaces perfectly suits my style. My Volunteer friend Scott still calls on me on a regular basis and I'm most grateful. He is kind and knows exactly when and where to pet me. With no emerging health issues, I'm on target to enjoy the long summertime that lies in wait for me.
