Moxy's Story

Moxy was living an indoor/outdoor existence as part of a managed group of street cats when his caretaker-rescuer had to relocate out of town. With much regret, the caretaker, who was moving in a seniors' residence, wasn’t able to accommodate Moxy. Because Moxy was well socialized and almost ready for adoption, a place was found in one of PAW’s foster-homes. He was subsequently vet checked, snap-tested (all negative) and fully vaccinated.

Personality:

Is Moxy the friendliest cat you’ll ever meet? We can’t make that claim – but he is pretty darn friendly. Initially shy, this large, tabby boy had to be trapped and kept by himself for a few days. As uncertain of his new humans and new surroundings as he was, Moxy’s loving nature would not be denied. Within a day of arriving in his foster-home, he was rubbing up against his new foster guardian, purring, kneading and rolling over for chest- and chin-rubs. ‘Amiable’ doesn’t begin to describe Moxy. Even when taken to a veterinary hospital for his check-up, he was co-operative. Scared, he nonetheless put up with the poking and the pushing, and when he returned to his foster-home, acted as if it just a bad dream: the purring started all over again.

His nickname is Moxy the Mixer, because he wants to do just that. He tries his best to interact with others, both human and feline. He is gentle and timid, and, for the most part, others respond to that. He made friends with both kittens and adult cats, shows the wary that he’s no threat, treats the old and frail with respect and is even slowly winning over would-be top-cats. He loves attention from humans.

Moxy takes easy-going to the next level; he prefers the quiet life. A sudden move or loud noise alarms him. Conflict, except for that simulated in a good play session, is something he avoids.

Formerly an inside/outside cat, Moxy doesn’t miss the outside at all. He isn’t even much interested in looking outside: he loves the indoor life. He’s had to learn what toys are, but has now mastered the string-toy. And watch him tackle a fuzzy mouse: he will leap and pounce and roll with it. He enjoys his fun, does Moxy. He has a very good appetite, and has no problem with using a litter-box. We haven’t found anything to worry about with this guy.
