Morty's Story
Morty is a brown tabby boy with a touch of Siamese in his looks and his voice — and he has a lot to say. He's affectionate, easygoing with people, and genuinely enjoys company, especially the couch-sitting, lap-adjacent kind. If you're looking for a cat who wants to be near you, he's it.

Food is central to who he is. He's a happy, uncomplicated dry-food eater, and that motivation runs deep — it's actually what makes him so adaptable. New home, new room, new routine — he settles in remarkably fast, especially if there's a bowl involved. He's a smart cat, and food is often the key to helping him feel comfortable in unfamiliar situations.

A few things about him: he's not really interested in toys — they tend to make him nervous rather than playful, so he'd rather spend that energy on affection and food than chasing a feather wand. He's also not experienced with other cats, and doesn't back down easily if challenged — he'll stalk or square up rather than retreat. Because of this, he'd do best as the only cat in the home, or with a very slow, carefully managed introduction process with a resident cat that's confident and unbothered by that kind of posturing. He's not aggressive toward people at all — this is specifically a cat-to-cat issue.

He'd thrive with someone who wants a close, communicative companion — a cat who will talk to you, hang out with you, and let food be the bridge to trust in a new home.

All cats and kittens adopted through Friends of Felines are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on FVRCP vaccinations and rabies shots (if old enough).

See our adoption process below:

1) Fill out the adoption application at https://friendsofelines.org/adopt
2) Meet with the cat in their foster home
3) If you and the cat are a match then we will set a take home date 1-7 days after the meeting depending on schedules.
