Moose's Story

Moose is a handsome, sleek, feisty boy. Ten things to know about him (with thanks to Kate DiCamillo and Because of Winn-Dixie):

1. He's playful. He plays "fetch" like a dog, with pompoms, and will bat one around on his own if no one will throw one for him. He loves to hide under sheets and jump out at you as you pass by.
2. He hates brooms, vacuums, dust busters and mops. He'd much rather you never clean.
3. He'll watch with scorn and mild offence as you scoop his litter. He believes his cleaning habits are plenty sufficient, and takes any extra cleaning as a personal affront to his housekeeping skills.
4. He'll love you and make you feel special. He'll meet you at the door if you've been out, and he'll follow you around the house. He'll remind you to take breaks if you've been at your computer for too long, by jumping up beside you, onto your lap or even onto your desk.
5. He needs physical affection. If it's been too long since he got any cuddles, he will jump up to "head-butt" your hand, knees or hems of shorts to insist you pet him.
6. He likes to chew plastic. Keep plastic bags out of his reach.
7. He likes to jump up on counters, tables, beds, windowsills, etc. No matter how many times you remind him gently and take him down, he never learns.
8. In over a month in foster he has used his scratching post exactly twice: once to actually scratch on and once as a wrestling partner. He much prefers the carpet or couch.
9. He doesn't love kids. They make him nervous and he sometimes hisses at them for no apparent reason. He can be get a bit over stimulated during play (and he does love to play), so may not be best suited to a home with younger children.
10. He communicates his boundaries clearly. If he doesn't like something, he will hiss, or gently bat your hand away. And if his nails aren't kept trimmed, the batting will be less than gentle.

He brings so much joy to everyone he meets. You will soon fall under the spell of his big kitten-eyes and fuzzy face, his purring and affectionate nuzzling. Moose would definitely prefer to be the king of his household with no other pets to take away time and attention from him.
