He was pretty shut down when he first arrived, but with a little time and patience, this handsome boy slowly came out of his shell. He started coming out from his favorite hiding spot to say hello by rubbing against the legs of our volunteers, and from there he has quickly learned to enjoy having company and gentle pets.<br/><br/>Moonie loves a good scratch and can be genuinely sweet and affectionate, but it is always on his own terms. He is an independent boy who is confident enough to let you know when he has had enough, and he appreciates when the people around him respect that. He does best with cat-savvy people who understand and respect his boundaries.<br/><br/>Moonie has a sensitive stomach, and he is currently on a prescription diet to manage it. That said, don't let his dietary restrictions fool you, Moonie loves food and has absolutely no shame when it comes to letting you know it. He will happily remind you when it is mealtime, and probably a little before that too.<br/><br/>Moonie would do best in a calm, patient home with cat-savvy owners who are comfortable reading feline body language and responding accordingly. Young children would not be the right fit for him, and he is also independent enough that we think he would do just fine as the only cat in the household. In fact, with a personality like his, he has more than enough character to make a home feel complete.
