Mookie

Meet Mookie. This poor guy had a very hard start to life. He is now doing really well and is ready to find his forever home. <br/><br/>Although the vet thinks Mookie is about 2 years old, he was small and looked like an older kitten when he was first rescued. Not only was Mookie missing hair in patches all over his body but he was also covered in wounds and old scars. He was ravenous for food, and at the time Mookie was rescued, he was also very dehydrated. Mookie seemed to be sensitive about his hips and back legs being handled, so the vet did some x-rays and to our great surprise we found that Mookie had a broken hip (most likely from being hit by a car). The head had fractured off his femur and there was a break in the socket of his hip as well. Fortunately, our wonderful vet was able to fix Mookie's broken bones and he's now ready to find his forever home. It’s hard to imagine what Mookie has been through in his short life, but we are grateful that we he’s now healthy and out of pain.<br/><br/>Mookie is a playful young cat who is always in really good spirits. He loves being able to run around and be goofy. He's a very quirky little guy who is always trying to pull off some sort of parkour stunt or somersault. Since he's a high energy cat, Mookie is looking for a home in a house or where he has some space to run. He wont be the right fit for a small apartment or suite. <br/><br/>Mookie is a very cuddly cat. He will cuddle for hours and give little kisses. He will sometimes use his teeth if he get overstimulated. He gets a little wild sometimes! Due to Mookie's habit of using his mouth and teeth when he's overstimulated, he will not be suitable for a home with children. He's also not the best kitty for someone who is a first-time cat owner. He's not a challenging cat to handle, but he will do best with someone who has experience with a variety of cat behaviours and body language. <br/><br/>Since Mookie has been isolated for medical reasons during his time with us, we do not know how he will be around other cats. However, while he was at the vet he did seem interested in the other cats that were there. However, if he goes to a home with other cats it could be tricky to balance his personality with another cat that wants to play with him but that wont get too crazy. Mookie is afraid of dogs so needs a home without dogs. He will be happy to be in a home as an only pet, as long as his family has the time to play with him and keep him entertained. He would love a home with a catio where he can get some fresh air but stay safe. <br/><br/>When he first came to us, Mookie was very under-weight and had obviously been without a regular source of food. Due to this, he is very food obsessed and will scarf any food that he can get his mouth on. Therefore, he will need regular feedings on a schedule and cannot be free-fed. He might do best with an automatic feeder. He is also the type of cat that will eat any human food that he can get access too.
