Monty's Story

Meet Monty. Monty is a tough little brown tabby tuxedo with a story that proves just how resilient cats can be. Found paralyzed near the Liberty Tunnel, he had somehow managed to survive with a broken pelvis in one of the most dangerous places for a feral cat. How he ended up there is anyone's guess, but one thing is certain-he's a fighter.

After being rescued and given the medical care he desperately needed, Monty made a remarkable recovery. Today, you'd never know he was once unable to move his back legs-he runs, jumps, and plays like nothing ever happened. Despite his incredible physical recovery, Monty's heart remains firmly guarded. He's completely unsocial with humans, preferring to observe from a safe distance rather than engage. It's a shame because his round little face is just begging to be smooshed-but for now, he'll have to be admired from afar.

What Monty does love, however, is the company of other cats. He thrives around feline friends, playing and coexisting happily in their presence. With a patient adopter and a confident, friendly cat to show him the ropes, there's a chance he could slowly warm up to human companionship over the years-but it's not a guarantee.

If you're looking for a low-maintenance, independent cat who will fill your home with playful energy (while keeping you at arm's length), Monty might be the perfect addition. He's a living testament to survival, and while he may never be a cuddly lap cat, he deserves a safe, loving home where he can continue to thrive-on his own terms.

Monty is around 3 years old, neutered, vaccinated, flea treated, dewormed, microchipped, and test FIV/FeLV negative. Because of his semi-feral nature, his adoption fee has been waived.

Oakland TNR Coalition's Adoption Policy
Adopting a cat is a big responsibility and commitment, but it's also one of the biggest acts you can ever do for an animal in need. Each cat in our care has its own story and background. All are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, flea-treated, dewormed, microchipped, and FIV/FeLV negative (unless stated otherwise). Because of the time, care, and vetting put into each cat, our adoption fee is $110 for one cat over one year old or $200 for two, and $140 for one cat under one year old or $260 for two. Filling out this application does not guarantee that you will be approved for adoption. Due to the influx of applications, we may not be able to reply to all applicants. By filling out this application you agree that all information on this form is correct and to our adoption process which includes a home tour, a vet reference (personal reference if you do not have a vet), and landlord approval if you are a renter.
