Monty's Story

Are you ready for Monty’s glow-up? ?

This big, beautiful, spicy ?? boy has officially recovered from both his neuter and his eye surgery — and he’s finally ready for a forever home!

Monty survived both the streets and the Apple Valley Shelter. One look at his intake photo and you could see how much he was suffering. We pulled him immediately, and the vet quickly diagnosed FIV along with a mouth full of painful open wounds. He was treated, medicated, and neutered right away.

After a few weeks of healing, Monty underwent entropion surgery (where the inward-rolling eyelid is corrected by removing extra skin and tightening the lid). His stitches just came out yesterday, and he’s feeling so much better. ?

Monty is a big guy — about 15 pounds — and while we don’t know his exact breed, a few people have suggested he may be a Ragdoll mix. The vet estimates he’s still young, around 3–4 years old.

Because he’s FIV+, Monty would do best as the only cat in the home or with another FIV+ companion. And yes, he’s got some spice — his adopter will need patience while he decompresses and learns that he’s safe. It may take months for him to fully settle into indoor life, but he already lets me pick him up, pet him, and even put drops in his eye. He wants to be loved… he just needs time. ?

If you have a soft spot for the tough ones, Monty just might be your guy.
