Molly's Story

Meet Molly, the momma of our Harry Potter litter. This fall, we received a call from animal control asking if we could take in a male cat that was brought to them as a stray and not claimed. Of course, we said yes, and we welcomed ‘him’ into our foster program, although we very quickly discovered that ‘he’ was actually a she and was very pregnant! Not long afterward, our Harry Potter litter was born.

After Molly had her babies, she was solely concentrated on the kittens and their needs. She was a wonderful mother. They were a very happy little family and they did everything together. Now the kittens are adopted we see the true nature of this wonderful cat coming out.

Molly is very motherly and sleeps with a little stuffed animal in her basket. She loves to play and goof around. She asks for quite a bit of interaction and likes to be around her people. Molly is very respectful, funny, and follows you around when she "needs" something (like food). When her foster family watches TV, she will sit on their laps and loves getting attention and hugs. She sleeps on the bed at night.

Molly's favourite past-time is to sit on the window-sill to watch what is
going on outside. Molly would love a home with a catio or a big window with a bird feeder outside so that she can watch wildlife and get some fresh air.

Although Molly is currently the only cat in her foster home, she misses having her babies around and will do best in a home with another cat. She enjoys running around and playing and might do well with another young kitty who enjoys wrestling and pouncing. She would also do well with a calm kitty that will want to cuddle with her, as long as they're Ok to play with Molly as well. Another young adult or kitten would be a good fit for Molly. It's estimated that she is about 2 years old.

Overall, Molly is a healthy kitty, but she does have some gingivitis that we are treating with water additives and a dental diet. The gingivitis in a young cat is likely due to growing up in unhygienic and poor conditions without adequate nutrition. Molly's new family will need to be considerate of her dental needs through her life and will ideally keep with up with routine dental care. She's not interested in having her teeth brushed, so dental treats and a dental diet help to keep her mouth healthy.

If you'd like to learn more about Molly, please visit https://victoriapets.ca/adoption-process/ for information about our adoption process and for a copy of our online adoption application.

Victoria Pet Adoption Society's Adoption Policy
Adopting a pet is a lifetime commitment and a big responsibility. Dogs can live 15 years or more, and cats can live 20+ years. Like people, each individual pet comes with its own set of baggage, needs, and personality traits. Because your new pet will depend on you to provide its basic needs, we need to be sure that you are educated and up to the challenge. Our adoption process allows us to ask you some questions about your home environment, your lifestyle, and your needs, expectations, and limitations. We want to be sure that your new pet is going to be just as happy in its new home as you are to have it there. A Successful Adoption Process Includes the Following Steps: To start the adoption process, please complete the online adoption application found at https://victoriapets.ca/adoption-process/. If our adoption team feels as though your home will be a great fit for one of our pets they will contact you to set up a visit supervised by the foster parent who can answer some of the questions you may have about the animal of interest. You will not be able to take the pet home the day of the visit. One of our volunteers will contact you after the visit and will open a dialogue with you based on the information provided in your application. We will talk about your home and family, as well as your experience with pets. We will ask you to tell us about the kind of life and care you can offer to the adopted pet, and we will inform you about any health or behavioural issues that you should be aware of. (For dogs only) Once an adoption is pending, we will come visit your home to ensure that the environment is suitable for the pet in question, based on its needs. We can advise you of modifications that could make the adoption more successful, such as fencing and other things you may not have thought about. The adoption process generally takes several days, and this time line is intentional. It allows you time to think about your decision so that you can be sure that you are comfortable with the decision that you’ve made. Adoptions are never approved within 48 hours of the application being submitted. Once we have successfully journeyed through the steps above, you can pick up your new friend to begin a wonderful life together! Signing an adoption contract is a requirement for every pet that is adopted. Adoption Fees are as Follows: Kittens (up to 12 months of age) $400 Adult Cats (1 yr - 8yrs) $300 Senior Cats (9 yrs and older) $250 Special Needs Cats (other than kittens) $250 Puppies (up to 12 months of age) $600 Adult Dogs (1 yr - 8yrs) $400 Senior Dogs (9 yrs and older) $300 Special Needs dogs (other than puppies) $300 Rabbits $50 Guinea Pigs $30 Rats/hamsters $20 Mice $10 Adoption fees for other species may vary
