Moki's Story
Meet Moki - this mom of the year deserves a home that treats her like the queen she is!

Smokey (aka Moki) and her six kittens were living a perilous life, nesting in a small patch of bushes between a busy six-lane road and a parking lot. Despite being skinny as a rail, all six kittens were hanging off her trying to get another drop of their mother’s milk. One lucky day they were rescued and finally they knew what it was like to feel safe and loved. Moki is a young cat herself and with a full belly she raced around the room teaching her babies how to play and be a cat. It was a happy time for Moki, but now her kittens have all been adopted and she is wondering when it will be her turn.

Moki is a very affectionate and people-oriented cat. Due to her tough beginning to life, a time when she lived in constant fear and danger, she takes a bit longer to trust new people and places. She does not have the same socialization skills as a kitten raised indoors and needs someone with patience, who will give her the support she needs and to play with her in an appropriate way (with toys not hands). With love, compassion and time, she will become your most loyal sidekick, following you around the house during the day and sleeping by your side at night. Like most Maus, she is an energetic cat and will be happiest with lots of playtime.

Moki is spayed, FELV/FIV negative, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her first visit to the vet uncovered elevated ALT liver enzymes, likely due to heat stress, temporary infection, or toxins in her environment. With a safe home, good nutrition, and liver supplements, her levels are now just above the normal range. To continue to support Moki’s liver heal from its past stress, her vet recommends a lower protein diet.

Sadly Moki is very fearful around other cats, likely due to her traumatic time on the streets protecting her kittens. She is best suited for a quiet home with no kids and no other pets.

If you think you could be the patient, loving home Moki needs, please email intlpawstoronto@hotmail.com for an adoption application today!

Adoption fee: $350
