Moana's Story

Meet Moana (fka Erin)
DOB: March 5, 2015 | Intake: March 3, 2020 | Returned: November 10, 2025

Moana and I go way back - almost 6 years - when Southside Sandi scooped her off the streets and brought her to us at Crash’s Landing. Moana was absolutely thrilled to be indoors and doted on, but she made it very clear that she was not a fan of sharing her space with other cats. Because of that, we were delighted when—just a month later—she was adopted by a wonderful woman who offered her exactly what she wanted: a quiet home with no other cats and none of the chaos they can bring 😊

For quite some time, Moana and her adopter lived together in harmony. Unfortunately, changes in the household eventually disrupted that balance. The introduction of a puppy and a move to a brand-new home triggered significant anxiety for Moana—an upheaval she simply couldn’t overcome. Although extensive veterinary diagnostics were pursued and a behaviorist was consulted, medical management was not tried at the time. When her owner reached out in desperation, we welcomed Moana back with open arms.

Moana is now on a daily anti-anxiety medication, and the transformation has been remarkable—she hasn’t had a single issue since returning.

Moana needs a home without other pets or small children. She is not a fan of other cats and will make her feelings known with a quick swat if her boundaries are crossed. Personally, I love her spicy personality—it’s clear she’s just protecting her space. She would be an excellent companion for someone who is home often and looking for a low-maintenance, independent girl who still enjoys attention on her own terms.

Don’t let her age fool you, either—Moana can still be quite playful 😊
In the right calm, pet-free home, she truly shines.
