MJ's Story

My name is Mj and I am a tortie domestic shorthair. I am a spayed female and I am 3 months old. I am at the shelter because I was found as a stray on 09/12/2025. I am a good kitty who uses the litterbox! I am a typical kitten with typical kitten energy levels, and I can live with an owner with no prior pet owning experience. I can be good with men, women, and children. I can be good with other cats and I can be good with dogs. My foster family had this to say about me: MJ is so sweet! She loves to cuddle and will come sit on your lap or perch on your shoulder whenever you are hanging out around the home. She is a great low to medium energy companion cat who is great around other cats and is litter training.

Ames Animal Shelter's Adoption Policy

In order to better serve our adopters and ensure our animals remain healthy and happy, our animals are available for viewing by adoption appointment only. Adoption appointments are scheduled once an application has been submitted. Our adoption process is the following: Step One: Review the available animals through the links below Step Two: If you see someone you are interested in, submit an adoption application (be sure to list their name on the application.) Step Three: A staff member will review your application and reach out to you by email once it has been approved. If approved, they will schedule you an appointment to come in and meet the animal.
