Misty Rose 's Story
Hi… my name is Misty Rose

I’m about 1–2 years old, a gorgeous long-haired calico girl with a fluffy tail and maybe—just maybe—a little Maine Coon magic mixed in. I’ve been told I’m rare and beautiful, but my story is about more than my looks.

I came to the shelter at the end of September, pregnant and scared, not knowing what would happen next. I became a mama and thankfully, I was moved quickly into foster care, and that’s where everything changed. I was a really good mama. I loved my babies fiercely, cared for them, and watched them grow strong. And while I was busy being the best mom I could be, something else happened too—I fell in love with people. My foster family adored me, and I adored them right back. I was sweet, affectionate, and so happy in a real home.
All of my babies have been adopted. They’re off living their best lives.
Then it was finally my turn… or so I thought.

I was adopted, but after only 20 days, I was returned. It wasn’t because I was bad or unloving. The apartment I lived in was surrounded by constant construction—loud, nonstop noises that made me anxious and overwhelmed. My gentle heart just couldn’t relax there.

Now I’m back at the shelter, and I’ll be honest—I’m unhappy. I don’t like the cage. It’s confining and it’s stressful, and it’s not who I am. The sweet, loving girl I was in foster care has turned a little sassy here, and that’s just me trying to say, “This isn’t where I belong.” I want so badly to feel safe again. To curl up. To love and be loved. I’m chatty and I’m trying to tell them… I really want and need a home

I’m spayed, up to date on everything, and ready to start over. I’ve given so much—my love, my care, my heart—to my babies and the people who helped me along the way.

Isn’t it my turn now?

Don’t I deserve my happily ever after too?

I’m Misty Rose, and I’m dreaming of a quiet, loving forever home where I can be the sweet, social girl I truly am

For more information and instructions on how to apply, please visit https://thepetrefuge.org/adopt/.
